I always put a petcock on all my mowers and engines without to shut off the fuel to keep the tanks full to keep the metal tanks from rusting.

Been driving since this morning. Sorry it took so long to respond.

I'm more of a Kohler guy. With that said, they operate pretty much the same.

I'm sure once you dive into it, the issue will be easy to fix.

You got a linkage from the gov shaft to the throttle. I'd check there first.

I'd even bet, you already figured it out.

I haven't looked at it that close, thanks for the response. I'll try and get to it one day this week, wasn't sure if it was a common problem or not is why I thought I'd ask

When we moved in I noticed the salt taste but tbh we just adjusted to it and before too long didn’t taste it anymore.

The dog came back from the vets after a full blood panel and came back with high sodium levels, that triggered me buying a hydrometer…

Im sure for some people it could create problems. However people that are drinking a gallon of water a day probably aren’t eating too unhealthily or likely have a good water filtration system.

EDIT: Kirkland water has approximately 27 ppm vs 630ppm city water.

It's no more NaCL than what people have that have water softeners.

I don't see it being a big deal beyond the taste.

With a salt water softener you should not have any salt residue left after the rinse, the resin beads do the softening not the salt.

Also USEPA recommends no more than 200ppm for drinking water, but it's not regulated at a federal level so AZ can get away without treating the water to lower the levels from 630ppm. Crazy.

They are good engines. They are considered the Commercial version of Briggs and Stratton.

What HP was the original chipper mower?

I have a Vanguard 16 HP twin on my wood chipper.
It starts instantly, is smooth & quiet and seems to be good on fuel.

It is a DR Products, probably around 20 years old.
It will process 5" round with ease and makes piles of brush disappear.

It was painfully expensive, on the other hand it is built like a Mack truck.

Maintenance is 2 grease fittings on replaceable 4 bolt flange bearings, a carbide chipper knife, 2 belts plus regular engine care.
With reasonable care I don't think you could wear it out with just personal use.

This model is road towable, I made an adapter to pull it around with a garden tractor.
There are no mods to the chipper, the big bolt is where the original chintzy stand went, remove it and uncouple the ball and it is ready to go on the road.

It is a powerhouse, one person can't keep it occupied.

You really need a 3 man crew to be efficient:
    Machine feeder
Man to keep the feeder stocked
Man to rake away the chips

Of course there is just me to do it all...

Just a remind but I’m sure everyone knows. Put the battery on wood. Never on concrete or just on the ground.

"They say" the modern high dielectric plastic cases make that unnecessary...

:gossip: ...but you will never find a good battery sitting on concrete in my garage... :fistbump:

Not an issue these days, but a good practice in case the battery leaks. The wood will soak up the leaked acid, vs eating at your nice shiny concrete.

    Well, shit!

I battled with a mouse infestation in this unit last year. Got it all cleaned up and sealed up against those evil little shits.

It ran it's weekly test cycle for the last 2 months.

This week she ran for 15 seconds.

After that, one of the connecting rods decided it needed some air.

Out it comes again so I can replace the fucking engine!

Not gonna be this year.PXL_20230914_203217914.jpg PXL_20230914_203201285.jpg
