Bought this thinking I could replace the latch on my swingout, but its not going to work.

only thing I did was open it, and paint the handle. Otherwise brand new.

    looking for $80obo shipped

Got a link to it on how it works? I mean I do see how it comes together, just curious as to its intended application.
I got some shitty latches on my swingout and want to out one on a tire carrier I have.

These are what i was able to find on ig. Their website was a little lacking in pictures/instructions.

Here are some examples from google. Looks like @Shmellmopwho also has/had it on his truck. Maybe he has some ideas

I love this latch! It’s amazing. The only issue was that I was getting the slightest bit of up and down movement while it was latched and so I added a destaco latch with it. This 4xinnovations latch takes care of front to back making sure my swing out stays closed and tight and the destaco latch takes care of any up and down movement. That’s just specific to my setup though. This latch might be all someone else needs!

what are y’all’s thoughts on attaching it to this? I have one of these on my 4runner and it serves the purpose.
The pin closing mechanism is a bitch even when lubed up. I thought adding a proper latch might eliminate this pin.

Any thoughts on placement on what OP has for sell?

The 4Xinnovation latch is solid but it’s easiest when mounted to the end of a square tube. There’s no immediate place on the Wilco to mount it directly so our have to get creative which might look a bit funky.
If it’s any consolation, when I build hitch mounted swingouts, I use destaco style latches I’ve the top of the swingout and they work phenomenal. Super inexpensive to replace if they get worn or fail. Looks like you have prefect real estate on yours for it too.

I have used this one and replaced. Ever had one pop going 80mph on the hwy?

I passed a guy pulling a glider/plane on the hwy. his looks was a bit perplexed, until I realized that my CBI dual swing out was wide open.
What’s worst is the catch pin didn’t grab that time, and the 33” tire came all over he way around.
The metal square latch snapped off. My guess is that it got over stretched or torqued over time, but to some corrosion causing it to not operate loosely.
I learned a few things that day about latches and lube; also when to replace before they go!

I think your right though, it would be best option for adding to the top of those square tubes.

Haha. That’s why I use dual retention on mine. The destaco latch takes the slack out and keeps the arm tight, and a traditional hitch pin acts as a safety measure. One is none and two is one.

Indeed. Indeed. I believe I will go this route. There is no reason to make this harder than it has to be. Lube is your friend ;)

Wouldn't the locking feature count as a second measure? Or a trailer pin?

The destaco latch has multiple possible failure points so I’m more confident in having a safety measure be something completely separate like the hitch pin. Don’t mean to shit on your thread- the 4x innovation latch is far superior to the destaco imo, but I can buy three of the destaco a for the price of one from 4xI.

That being said, I’ve built several swingout bumpers and added swingouts to existing bumpers and have always preferred the 4XI latch for those because they’re going to be on there full time.
