True. It does get cold around here (30-40s) but it gets W E T which then gives it that damp cold that settles under you jacket and stuff. Not like the dry Utah cold that I prefer.

Howdy, my wife and I are on a cross country road trip and will be visiting your lovely state in a few days. I’m going to need to do my 50k service and wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a shop in the Salt Lake City area? Thanks!

While I like promoting local businesses... I would never do a mundane and relatively flexible maintenance with an unknown shop regardless of recommends. Especially on a road trip where my wheels need to be trustworthy. How many days/miles are you going to be away from the shop you normally do business with?

October - April is the wet season, Nov-Early Mar is the cold season, so yeah, pretty short ;)

It didn't get into the 70s until July this year.

And the last two years were weeks of over a hundred in June... and I've seen snow on the valley floor in July.

hmmmm. i know of a shop downtown that specializes in toyota's and my gf takes her 4runner to a lot. however, if you're looking for basic maintenance, there are a few offroad enthusiast shops around town that'll do some stuff once in a while. "Impulse Offroad" did my girlfriend's 4runner lift and also did an oil change for her when they did the shakedown inspection. worth a look.

lol. wet season. imagine that. lolol. i mean, we've been starting to see snow on the peaks but only light dustings that ahve melted since. Uintas I think is getting pretty close to getting season-lasting snow. so...winter is just around the corner. sadly.

    Not much stock left.
If you decide on a dealership, then I’d do Mark Miller Toyota.

otherwise, I would 2nd Impulse Offroad, but you would want to plan ahead. Sometimes it takes about two weeks to get in.

Retiring to Utah and considering some different areas to look into and found “East Carbon”. Anyone have any input about it?
Have a 13yo that will be in high school next year and all I can find is that the high school closed, but not where the kids attend now.

Grateful for any insight you can offer for or against as well as other non-major metropolitan areas.

If you like it remote that's getting there. Kids probably go to school in Wellington or even Price. You might want to check out the hiway 10 corridor, Emery, Ferron, Castledale, and some smaller towns.

Looking into it a little, I believe Price is the nearest town with a high school.

oh yeah..that is getting out there. i bet you most kids go towards Price. If you like the desert, then what @Travlr said. Along the us-89 is also got some beautiful areas as well. Cache Valley is popular area but can get a bit metro-ish given Logan is in there.
