On a separate note, I'm waiting to see if Langmuir will ship me a new VIM box.

My theory is that my sudden THC alarm (which is described as a pierce delay issue) has something to do with the initial height sensing part of the program.

Apparently a handful of those that switched to RAW from DIV only found that it worked because the divided voltage portion of the module basically failed.

So yeah I might go RAW voltage but not if it masks the fact that I still have an issue on the DIV side of my box.

 

Thanks for the feedback. In addition to your ideas, I was thinking if I create more space, I can wrap the "U.S. AirForce" around the lower part of the symbol as I saw in some of the examples that came up on a search.

 

Free steel is a steal, but cheap is a bargain. I'm good with that!

 

Anyone with some Lincoln precision tig 225 (or 175 or 185 even) knowledge?

On my 225, when welding on TIG on AC, there is sometimes a beeping noise coming from the machine when I am light on the pedal (typically when I am easing off the pedal to lower the voltage to end the weld). I’ve scanned the manual many times and googled a bunch and have found no answers. Any ideas?

 

Any of y'all got 12" of 1.5" angle at 1/4" thick?

My 3 go-to's don't usually get that thickness as remnants and I don't want to commit to 20' of it

I'll go with online metals as they'll sell it but figure someone might actually have this as scrap laying around; will trade for steel I've got laying around

 

Just now seeing this since I wasn't already following the thread! I honestly feel dumb even participating in this thread because me and metal don't really get along.. Same with wood honestly. That being said, I love how your original joystick stand turned out, so I'd shoot for a super similar design for this one! Since you're limited on wood space, it looks like its gonna be really close to flush, and those side legs are coming off, I'd just fab up some tabs/your own "side leg" plate to span the side of the "table" part, using the bolt placement of the original side legs as a template for your mounting solution. Then, you get to play with metal (which you prefer), and don't have to worry about drilling through the pretty wood.

Cheaply put, imagine a piece of angle with some holes drilled in it to cradle the wood/throttle (using the original side leg holes for mounting), that ultimately links to your leg supports. But instead of being cheap like me, you take the angle idea, put it in your fancy software, cut it on a machine, and make it look good lol. All the things I can't do..

I have no idea what could beep in the machine.

I have 3" myself as well as 2", unfortunately only 1 1/2" works for this specific application

So what I'm doing is creating a bottom die for my press brake.

Rather than stack a bunch of angle, from 2.5", down to 2", down to 1.5", then down again to 1" I'm going right to 1.5" but with rectangular tube between it and the bottom 3" die.

Speaking to Swag Offroad, Adam actually advised against their flat top setup for bending 10 gauge so I'm making my own bottom die.

And for kicks, I did pick up 3/4" at 1/8" thick for the narrowest of bends (if the need ever arises). Not only that but because it now shortens the required length per leg over the die for accurately bending smaller pieces.

The 1/4" thick angle for the first piece is needed to support the tonnage.

 

Why not trim one of your 2"x2" L x1/4" pieces if you need to bend anything ?

 

The 2" angle is only 1/8" thick

Plus, trimming that much accurately?

I want the top to be flat/even and an already 1.5" angle being 1/4" will be stiff enough to have a flat top.

This will ensure I have repeatability.

 

I do have like 15' of 1 3/8" angle at 1/4" thick but I'd rather just get the right stuff from the get go

I don't, but if I did I still wouldn't want to trim off 1/2" across each leg
