I’ve found a lot of downed trees. The flood damage is a lot worse than I thought. Only have 1 or 2 more ways to scout then its back to the drawing board

pics to come when I get home

    Well good news bad news

good news, Clarke’s Grade is un damaged and in great condition. Better than in past years actually

bad news: no way to get to it from San G. The trail head we normally use to get to Radford is still accessible but its on the other side of the closure. I nearly shit myself when I came around the corner and saw CHP red n blues. Thought for sure I was going to get in trouble :anonymous:

Man I forgot how much I hate trying to post pictures on TW. Someone really needs to make it easier…

anyways, as promised, pics from today’s scouting mission. As I mentioned before, Clarke’s Grade was completely clear from the beginning in Big Bear all the way to the bottom of the trail where it intersects with 1n09. You’re only on 1n09 for a short minute before coming across the trail head at Seven Oaks Rd, which is the begging of the destruction.

    0E45F7BD-1D69-45F3-AF43-8519634AD4F4.jpg
All this debris washed onto the road. Odds are some of the road was washed away but at this point impossible to tell
    025FA5CC-E5A1-4BFD-B4B8-2800DE97AC3F.jpg
One of the many piles of tree trunks spread around. Yes, tree trunks, not branches. Some of them were huge
    310B3773-B3ED-4162-B863-9682AF100233.jpg
Another pile. This particular one was way taller than me, probably 8+ feet tall
    A8E3C3BF-A733-41C6-B78F-0AF979406E53.jpg
Small drive up the road and you can get a glimpse of this house on the other side of the bank. Looks like they were very lucky the house didn’t wash away. Makes me wonder if any did..?
    62E74CF1-5EBE-4854-AA6C-6EA66735F019.jpg
Not much further up the road you can see what’s left of it. Not very promising
    21352EA3-8AF8-4E7F-BF60-A8D19DC8FB36.jpg
After scouting up the trail again I tried jumping on Glass Road to connect to 38. Got a little ways in but still no luck…
    AE8BF391-61DD-4FC8-A3EA-6F213FF9972A.jpg
Last ditch attempt was go all the way up and around to where we used to get onto Radford. Got 90% of the way there then came across this. The damage just never stopped
    D2BDE42D-D982-4859-8154-FF5B5CA114CD.jpg

Finally found my way around that wash out and got to the trail head. Should’ve gone up the road but thought I was below the closure line, so decided to head down to San G. Nope. Found the CHP and the barricade. Luckily I was able to drive through with no problems. Going back to the trailhead though, not possible, so all of that was for nothing :frusty:

Hory sheet! And as far as uploading pics in bulk I actually had a convo with Bob about this and he said it was the #1 requested improvement and he’s working on it.

After seeing flood damage and that the trails are all impassable, I guess we’re ALL gonna be hanging out at San G for the weekend.
