his door in is through the laborers union. Hard nut to crack. Once in he’ll apparently have a couple of trade opportunities. He’s being hired by one of the civilian contractors.

he’s met a girl. They’ve actually kept it going for 3 months now so it’s newsworthy. It’s affecting his decision making, ambition. The whole 9 yards. It also means that I’m getting snippets of information. Actual conversation is planned for the weekend.

Can’t imagine the anxiety in the air for everyone down east. My BIL is fleet captain in Rockport. They got the ENTIRE harbor emptied yesterday. Normally happens over a 6 week period. They live in what is considered a hurricane hole, so their own boat will remain moored. And a few of the local lobstermen are granted permission to temporarily put there boats there as well. Hoping the ocean doesn’t come in their kitchen. Good luck to everybody.

the reason they’re nervous: this is the view from their dining room table.

…seemed like a good idea at the time.

Typical me, got gifted a generator from my folks after I gave them my working one a few months back. Tried starting it today and it won't run off choke. Nothing like a last minute tune up.

Know what you don't want to find when you take an air cleaner off your generator? The entire choke plate sitting in it. The plastic shaft that it rotates on is broken in half... :bananadead:

I don't know what happened to this poor thing in its 28 hours of running, cuz it apparently was pretty brutal.

    It got worse

I had a new plug and tossed it in. Pulled it over, it started running but backfired every stroke out the carb, shot the choke butterfly 5 feet away, and I killed it.

Pulled the valve cover off, the exhaust valve wasn't opening far enough... pulled the push rod. She's bent. Not horribly, but enough.

Sounds like somebody was moving it to the basement and dropped it down the stairs. Could be your folks paying you back for being a PITA as a kid. :notsure:

My only guess is the date on the tag says made in 2009, so it probably didn't get started/run long very often. Stuff doesn't like to sit.
