    Found this old car next to a large river on a hiking trail last week. Looks like it probably got washed up there as I couldn't see a way it could have been driven in(granted any roads leading back there could have been long gone!).

    It is a base model Custom or one step up Custom 300 by the quarter window.
    The upmarket Fairlanes had a longer wheelbase and located the quarter window in the door on the sedans.

    Compare the rear of the rear door opening on the black & gold Fairlane at the top of the photo, see the dog leg? This car is a hardtop (no pillars) so no quarter window either.

    Now look at the same spot on the blue & white Custom 300, see how the door line is straight with the window behind.
