As well there USA facebook page just posted it as well. I honestly think they know they are missing out $$$$$ with not having a small pickup. That would be sick. And Celica maybe as well. Maybe the new 86 when they fly solo without Subaru will be called the Celica

I remember that, when desert racing themed trucks were all the rage. Now it is Brolanders, have to go spend $60K for the truck and $40K for accessories to go sleep in the dirt, then post on instagram to show everyone how cool you are at car camping…

Missed opportunity here for Nissan. They showed this way back in February ‘22, and since then, notice they deleted the rigid lights from the concept.

Mechanicals are standard Frontier, so Nissan basically took almost 2 years to roll out a retro wheel & sticker package.

The Frontier is a solid platform, and the V6 stands out, but lately I wonder if Nissan really has their heart in selling trucks.

Remember Nissans “Dogs Love Trucks” commercials from the 80’s or 90’s?

Apparently the Toyota marketing focus groups who helped design this truck defined themselves as “rugged” and having “active lifestyles”, however 6 out of 10 also forgot the name of the truck they were driving. Hence, it is now clearly displayed in big-ass letters on the dashboard.

Looks like that was the only color combo, and it featured a tailgate delete in favor of the tailgate net. The previous generation Nissan also had a version with the rollbar, front bumper bar and auxiliary lights.

Nissa could offer a Frontier S king cab 4x4 with the rear locker off the 4x, skid plate Nismo suspension lift, Nismo wheels, and KO3 tires. Keep it under $40k somebody would buy it.

That’s in case you use the truck for Uber. It’s marketing for the passengers who may not know what type of awesome vehicle they are driving in. :D

Better yet, bring the GU Patrol single cab, SFA, with the diesel, and give Toyota the bird.

No gimmicky body work, no bullshit suspension seats. Just a no nonsense beefy little truck. This is an enthusiast truck, not that hybrid horseshit Toyota is doing.

That picture is cool! Looks like fun times for sure.

Eh, I like the Frontier better than the 3G Tacoma, but I feel Toyota did good with the new 4G. I don't not like the Nissan, I just like the Tacoma better

It was, that was up above Sedona off of Schnebly Hill Road, remember getting a puncture in a tire, and had to fill it up a couple times with a floor hand pump to get in back into town to fix it. There we three of us in that little truck, one guy road in the back on a futon mattress. lol! Back in the days you would just throw a bunch of shit in the bed and go.

Like the looks of the Frontier, but those are only good up to 100K miles, the 3G & 4G Toyotas are butt ugly to me, but the mechanicals are good, or at least should be. If I could get a 80s-90s styled body with a modern chassis I would be stoked since I am an old retro-grouch.

Back when we used film in our cameras… lol

Haha! Back before we put air compressors in cars too. Thankfully I've never needed to do that, but I have, on a few occasions carried my bike a few miles back to the truck. Ugh, not fun lol

Yeah, the Nissans aren't ugly, I just don't trust their longevity. Toyotas are known for the long mileages, Camrys, pick-ups, 1G 4 runners. That's what I like. Yeah, it seems the 4G looks are you either hate/love it. I see a pretty good 50:50 ratio from folks on that.

This is the truck I built in highschool/jr college. Was right around the time of Motorola Razrs and actual cameras, so I didn't ever get many pictures of it. Would love to have a decent one of these again.

Frame was from a 79. Engine was an 81 with less than 50k original miles. A GEM! The body was an 87. We had a custom dash, bucket seats w 5 point buckles, gas tank was an old keg, cage, bumper, and suspension were from All Pro Off Road.

I ended up selling it when I went to college. I didn't want it to just sit and rot.

Think I added a plug kit and compressor after that trip. All trial and error, (mostly error, ha!) of what you need or don’t…

Yeah don’t care for the looks of my 3G, seems like they went all in to make it even worse with the 4G. It is probably of what I came to age in, 70s-80s Ford’s and 80s-90s Toyotas….grew up in those, so that is what I like style-wise. Today’s trucks are trying too hard to look tough. Though the ‘24 F150 has peaked my interest. Grill is a throwback to earlier trucks that I like.

I like you cobbled together yota, that is cool! My Toyota love affair started 30 plus years ago with an ‘85 4Runner. Gotta say with the new Tacoma and Tundra, not sure I’ll stick around for the next truck purchase.

You know it! We used to buy those disposable cameras for our mountain bike trips. They always came back blurry. But cheap and didn’t cry if you crushed it.

This thread is a continuous loop of "the 4th gen is a machismo transformer" followed with a "real truck" (a picture of a single cab Hilux with a flat bed or a 80s/90s Toyota pick up) that can do "real truck stuff" with bs and maybe a new 4th gen update in between.

I want the AC OR MT also, but live in the USA. Wonder if it’s possible or cost prohibitive or even legal to drive up to Canada and try to buy that version and bring it back to the USA?

Would you get the 7.3 or the diesel motor in the F250?
