IIRC yes you will have to program the new TPMS and if you switch to "winter" tyres that have different TPMS you will have to switch in the computer.

It depends on if you filed your TPMS reports...

The FCC is real slow with processing those reports. They say you can't drive your truck until everything is approved. It took 4 months to get approved. I drove anyway. :D

I’m curious about this as well. Just scooped up these 4runner ORP wheels and tires off marketplace and they’re being powder coated gloss black now. IMG_4328.jpg IMG_4330.jpg IMG_4348.jpg

Are you talking programming brand new ones or existing sensors?
'TPMS rebuild' (whatever that entails) when I had the new tires put on was $10/wheel.

Aren't sensors kinda expensive to buy if they don't have any?

@rubbersidedown - I have an Autel TS508 TPMS programmer tool you can borrow if you'd like. I can bring it on Saturday. No guarantees it works for 3rd gen but I'd imagine it would...

'TPMS rebuild' is typically putting a new O ring on the stem, a new valve core, and sometimes a new valve cover cap. At least this is what Discount Tire does for that process.

Usually if you buy/mount tires at a shop they will reprogram TPMS for free. But if you are getting tires/wheels shipped direct already mounted up and installing yourself, you might have to pay the shop a couple bucks to reprogram.

Anywhere from $25 to $60 a piece, depending on the brand/quality that you choose. Or if you are feeling rich go buy them from the dealer for like $110, ouch.

Mine were about $34 each X 5 wheels for this setup.

I'd love to try your programmer tool, but it's not looking like I'm gonna make it Saturday and I definitely won't have the wheels by then. Will be at least a couple weeks. I wouldn't mind a short trip down by you when they are installed though, if you have the time. I can bring beers.

Sounds good, I'll be on the road until after Oct 15th but sometime after that should be fine.
