What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

looks awesome and great build!

 

Did two things today:

1) changed out my Kenwood DMX957XR for a DMX958XR
2) removed my dash power outlet in favor of a Scosche PowerVolt.

The reason for the new radio was because it’s a newer model and it supports 3A charging vs 1.5A on the 957. I’ve ordered the new Pro Max iPhone and the battery is going to be huge on it. My old phone has a pretty small battery and charges really slow.

Since I was messing with the radio, figured the PowerVolt would be a good thing to add. It gives you a new USB port that will pass CarPlay through it, and then it has prongs to wire up to power to give passengers or whoever a USB charge port. Makes it to where I don’t have to have a car charger to plug into the power outlet anymore. I didn’t like the factory USB port location so this is better, and it’s very unassuming because there is no wording or lights on it.

 

I couldn’t get used to the stock SR Grille. $100 and 45 minutes later, I like it a lot better.

 

Best grille option, IMO.

What have i done today? Recieved my bronze trd wheel. Man if they start separating part. Will people still want to pay for it? I’m seeing the center cap is back ordered.

 

They are just for show. I have no intention of towing or recovery with these. Like 40 bucks for the brackets and shackles. The factory tow hook is still on the truck. Search the forum for demon brackets and enjoy the read lol...

Did you like the old Kenwood 958? How well did it plumb in to the factory harness and cell antenna? Were you able to retain much of the Factory personal setting adjustments?
Mine is a 19 NON JBL

 

Technically you’re still 2.5” higher than stock. I thought the same with my lift since I still had some rake, but noticed I was still lighting up oncoming sedan drivers faces. Just a 8mm box end ratcheting wrench is all you need. Easy peasy.

 

Real off roading parts cost real money...

The difference in gas mileage without the air dam is negligible. It will look so much better.

Why would one cut the steps off?

 

Man the bronze looks so good, I'm curious how'd it look with red.

 

My old one was the 957, went with the 958 now. I loved it, never had any problems with it and it’s over 3 years old and about 70K miles. I used a Maestro RR2 for the steering wheel controls and then a bunch of small adapters for the antenna and stuff like that. I have a 21 non-JBL. I made a pretty detailed thread about my swap and I can also answer questions in PM if needed. It’s a good swap.

All of the factory settings are retained with the Maestro.

 

Just for looks, really. I will leave mine how they are, though. Wife likes the steps, steps are staying.
