has anyone run both the Bilstein 6112's and this Eibach setup that can give a good comparison, I've looked around but haven't been able to find a comparison from someone who has had both, only comparisons of specs.

I have the pro truck 2.0 kit (approximately 17k miles on it) just curious if there is any notable difference in performance or ride quality

If anyone is on the fence about this kit just get it. It’s a solid choice for an entry level suspension kit. It gets the job done both on and off road. I’m more than happy with mine.

    +1 for what he said.

@Takosu what size wheel/tire combo is that? CMC?

Hi Im sure this has been asked but for anyone running this, did you swap out the OEM UCA? If you did, any specific reason you did so? What did you switch to? Also trying to decide what to add to the rear block vs AAL ? Anyone running this set up wuth 285s?? Thanks all!

I swapped out my uca when i did this lift because i wanted to be able to get more caster for better alignment, as well as better articulation and strength. I went with the old man emu uca because it uses an oem style ball joint that is greasable and will make finding a ball joint easy when the time comes. aal will give you a smoother ride. I am running 285 and had to do a cab mount chop to clear my bfg ko2's. I rubbed at full lock when going in reverse

I did my UCA’s when installed the kit. I went with JBA because they have a lifetime warranty, ball joint has a grease fitting, and you can replace the ball joint by just unbolting it and bolting the new one on. I did a 1” block in the rear of my truck for now. I might end up doing an aal or leaf pack down the road but for now, I have no extra weight out back, there’s nothing wrong with a 1” block for now.

I’ve been back and forth on what setup I want. I can get the 2r for $1268 right now on sale. Also contemplating TRD Pro takeoffs.
I have a 2017 TRD ORD DCSB and I’m looking to get 2.5” front and 2” rear, with Headstrong AAL.

are the new kits still clunking? Not looking to spend the money only to make my truck worse and be chasing issues indefinitely. Just on a budget of ~$1500 which doesn’t leave me a ton of room. I know I can get some Elka 2.5 front and 2.0 rear for ~$1600, but trying to stick to my budget since we just don’t off-road that often, but love getting out whenever our schedule opens up. I’ve had Bilstein before and it was brutal. I enjoy how plush Fox are, but the 2.0 kit just doesn’t cut it for me. Everyone’s recommended the Eibach, but this thread has me shying away from it hardcore.

    did they fix the clunk?

I was in the same boat you’re in now not too long ago. I was pretty close to going with something else after I read through the clunk posts. However, Eibach has been in the Coilover game a long time and I’ve used their car stuff in the past with really good results so I decided to give it a chance. installed the 2R and uca’s in July. I replaced lower shock bolts with the 4Runner ones while I was at it. I’ve had no issues with any kind of clunking. These shocks have been really good so far. They strike a nice balance of on-road handling and ride quality. The off-road performance has been good too. I’ve blasted down some bump trails and I was surprised how well these did. Overall, in this price range, I don’t think there’s anything out there that can compete.

16x8 -20 on 285/75/16 Toyo R/T. I am on OEM UCA. No CMC. Installed coils at the pre-set height out of the box. No serious rubbing. Did minor plastic trimming.

    Thanks for the responses everyone!

Can anyone give insight to the advantages vs disadvantages of a block vs AAL?? From what I can gather from Google, AAL is better but Im not sure I really understand why.

Sorry, just trying to square away what I need for install so I'm not going back and forth and anything suspension isnt really my thing!

Tacoma leaf springs are not very substantial and adding a block does not help with that or load carrying capability. AAL will provide lift and better load carrying and less wallowing or bottoming out when loaded. A replacement leaf pack is better yet and is what many end up doing. I have Deaver leaf packs and am very happy with them.

Taksosu... Nice truck!! I'll be running the same tire, wheel(Magblue) & suspension set up on my 22 TRD OR. Are you running a 1 inch block in the rear? Is that height the stock height out the box for the front coils?

Do you NEED to? Neative, there’s plenty of people running that kit without upgrading uca’s. Imo depends on how much lift you’re looking for. If you plan on running them with no or minimal lift, don’t bother. If you’re gonna crank those collars up then I would highly recommend it. Or at least put it next on your list of things to do. You can start running out of caster and have some issues with alignment.

Hello everyone! New to the group here. Been following this thread now and there has been a mixed of reviews on Eibach Pro stage 2r lately. I'm just curious if the clunking issue has been addressed yet? I really like the suspension but am too scared to pull the trigger due to the clunking issue. TIA!

Just learned to live it it.

I still haven't had the time to replace the body mount bushings and radiator support bushings. It might be that but, who knows.

The clunking issue, like any other problem, gets magnified online. People who are happy with things don’t usually go on the internet to exclaim their contentment. Conversely, a plurality of people who have problems will take to the interwebs to gripe (rightfully so) and for answers. This is a law of the internet. Like you, I became very weary of buying this kit after going through all the clunk posts. Eventually, I decided to just go for it. Eibach isn’t a minor player in the suspension game so I decided to trust them and replaced my lower shock bolts with the 4R ones to hedge my bets. Long story longer, I couldn’t be happier with the 2R kit and I know there’s a lot of others here who feel the same.

The clunking issue only seemed to affect a few people that purchased their kits a while ago. I am one of those that experiences the clunk. It hasn't gotten worse for me it is still the same. And outside of the clunk, the shocks are a huge improvement to ride quality. They are very well made and I have considered upgrading the rear to the 2R shocks.

The truth is, I can not completely confirm the noise is the shocks. It wasn't there before and was there after install. I have replaced the lower bolt with a longer shanked style bolt but the original was not moving so it wasn't the source. I also found that the sway bar hit a frame brace with the relocation brackets so I preformed a Swaybarectomy to eliminate that issue but it did not change the clunk.

I have considered loosening everything and retorqueing everything to see if it is a bushing binding up but haven't had an opportunity to do it.

I have no mixed reviews, I love the way my truck handles with these shocks. Unfortunately, I do have an issue that not everyone who purchased has experienced.

Nicely said. Besides the clunk these ride great. Once you're up to speed on the fwy, it absorbs everything. The clunking (at least to me) only happens on surface streets. Mainly on uneven surfaces, steep bumps, and pot holes. I've hit dips on this suspension at about 50mph and it absorbs it very smoothly.

I love mine! I have the stage 2r and glad I went with this over 6112/5160 because of the adjustability and have really bumpy sand dunes where I live and thought the 6112 would magnify the chatter! I go fast and have even gotten a bit of air! Love this setup! If you get the 2r with resi in back it is linear valved and feels amazing. Looking to upgrade sometime when I have money to 2.5 inch locked setup but honestly don’t need to this setup has been pounded and eats everything I throw at her. These are the best 2.0 money can buy!
