Hey folks, I am doing some work under the dash and I have the lower column cover down, but I can't release the wiring from the hood release. I see what looks like two retainers but they are tight and even when pried a bit with a pick tool I can't seem to get the wiring to loosen so I can remove the cover completely. Does anyone have any techniques? I have learned by now not to push too hard and risk damage.

    Thanks in advance!

I normally take a small screwdriver and press on this tab (white arrow) while sliding the latch back.

Ok thank you! Different note, are there any locations (other than the cubby) to put some standard issue Carling type switches? I looked and it seems like there is a lot of metal bracing behind the plastic that will interfere. I was hoping to sink in two standard toggles plus one push button momentary (for flash pattern change) for strobe lights. My switch panel is already fully occupied. I put an EQ in the standard switch location in the center stack and relocated the factory switches to the cubby with a Meso panel. I prefer 'the feel' of toggle switches anyway; I am just trying to avoid using an L bracket in the center. I attached a PDF with the pics of the switches and dimensions. Appreciate the help!
