I am wondering if anyone has a 2023 Toyota Tacoma Pro that would like to compare how their vehicle is paint with me. I am trying to find out want paint standards are for the new vehicles.

Welcome to TW-it seems like a lot of the paint quality depends on the colors used as well as where the vehicle is made. Take super white for example, a lot of us are having issues with that color flaking off our trucks.

I have Solar Octane I have areas on my truck that do not have color on it. I am just wondering if there is anyone else that has a pro that has this same paint job.

Two of those three I don't even know what I'm looking at.

My MGM sport does have slight under-spray in the interior. Probably not as bad, but it's there. In the picture, you can see it underneath the raised brackets on the rear wall.

Probably normal. But again, I can't tell what the others are and whether they're visible to the exterior.

I have solar octane also, and while I love the color, I am less than satisfied with the coverage. Inside my fuel filler door, the latch area is grossly under sprayed and a few other areas as well. I guess that $425 premium paint charge on a $50K vehicle did not allow them enough to cover the cost of a complete paint job.

The are many areas I am just trying to see if these areas are painted the same on other Trucks. I open the driver and passenger doors and look from the outside in that crack there is no color, many places in the inside of the engine compartment, the gas flap door on the inside and where the seat belts connects to truck ect.

Awe, you're just being too critical, They were just a bit short on that paint color when toyota painted your truck.

All car makers consider thin coverage on "semi-concealed" or concealed areas to be a normal process in manufacture. Why waste paint (and money) putting paint and clear in areas under the rugs or behind interior panels when it really has no function? Kia and Hyundai don't even paint the engine bay on some models, its just "underbody" color.
It saves them money....and you as well by keeping costs down.

On my solar octane Tacoma there was little or no paint under the top bed rails, which are the exterior of the truck. I believe that invites corrosion, as those bed rail caps are not water tight.

It is still considered a concealed area even though it's exterior, as long as the e-coat and primer surface isn't compromised it shouldn't corrode. Personally I would like to see more coverage/coatings on structural areas LIKE THE FRAME!

Don't you know toyota wants you to buy a new vehicle every 10 years or sooner?

Toyota is still having issues with their white paint. I just bought a new 2023 Ice Cap TRD Offroad. When I got it home, I noticed a smudge on the bottom of the passenger's rocker panel. When I rubbed it with a rag the paint came off on the rag. I checked the driver's side, and it did the same. The full length of both rocker panels in areas rubbed off down to the gray primer. The lower section of the front fenders is also affected. Toyota has already agreed to repaint the truck. I am in negotiations with them now because I want them to replace the truck or at least compensate me for the loss in resale value.

normal. new low VOC requirements introduced to all automakers early in the 2000's.

if it's not satisfactory, buy something 1999 or older.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Disagree. Paint composition and off gassing don’t dictate where paint is applied. This is simply a cost savings to limit how much paint and time are spent on each vehicle. Saving 30 seconds of line time and a few ounces of paint adds up.

Read somewhere that if your paint color has the word “metallic” in it its got 3 coats of paint on top of the primer: base, flake, more flake
