So I just changed the intermediate steering shaft on my 2013. As soon as I started it up I noticed the traction control icon on the dash is illuminated. Must have somehow caused this when doing the steering shaft????

    It’s possible.
You’ll need to scan the truck and see what code you have.
We can help you more if we know the code.

Did you take care not to allow the steering wheel to rotate with the shaft removed?

If it was allowed to rotate with the shaft removed the clockspring/steering angle sensor could have been damaged or the steering angle sensor may not match the direction the wheels are.

No I had the steering wheel tied off before I removed the shaft. I didn't have the steering wheel perfectly straight as I wanted the bolts on the upper clamp accessible.
Took a good look around. Thought the traction control would be linked to the wheel speed sensors. Can't see any way I could have compromised the wheel speed sensor.

Get the codes from the ABS module then so we can see what needs to be checked.
My be as simple as the VSC needs to be recalibrated.

Is your steering wheel straight when you drive straight down the road?

Steering wheel not 100 % straight but fairly close. I will see if I can get the code tomorrow and report back.

Here is a pic of my steering wheel with tires pointed/going straight.
There is no code stored. It doesn’t have the check engine illuminated. Just the traction control icon is illuminated.IMG_0805.jpg

That's likely your problem, aligning the steering wheel and doing a recalibration may be all it needs.
There almost certainly be a code stored in the ABS module but most generic readers only read PCM codes.

If there was a code in the ABS module wouldn't the ABS icon be illuminated? Are you referring to the recalibration of the VSC system?

Not necessarily, the ABS module is in charge of alot of things, VSC, Traction Control, ABS, Brake Assist, etc. It will only illuminate warning lights for systems that are affected by whatever fault is present.

Yes but you need to get the steering wheel straight before doing the calibration.

Probably throwing a vsc code for abnormal zero point of steering angle with the steering wheel being that crooked…

get it recentered/realigned and re cal the vsc.

    All stock, baby!
Yeah, the steering angle sensor calibration is pretty sensitive. My wheel was slightly off center and causing no problems, but on my way into death Valley there was a strong crosswind and I had the wheel turned an additional 10 or 15° to counteract it. By the time I started to descend into the valley, I had a CEL and it was for the calibration. Yours is more offset than mine.

When I replaced my intermediate shaft, I was off a tooth, and had to slide that coupler back off to fix it. What a pain! But easy to have that happen.
