Find a place that roast and grind their own coffee. Although might be a little difficult in your area.

I've got local company I'll likely go back to ... a buddy at work recently turned me onto BRC ... and I bought into their "veteran owned military supportive" hype. Although Danny mentioned last week out at the cabin that he heard something about they'd been bought out by some big outfit ... I'm putting the pieces together now. Ugh ... :frusty:

:rofl::rofl: You are 100% on target.

    /Story Time With Tom
I actually have never been the party type, social butterfly, go out and get crazy type.
But, the college I went to (California State University, Chico) had the dubious honor of having been declared the Nation's #1 Party School by Playboy magazine in 1986. Had I gone directly to college after high school, I would have have been a Sophomore at Chico State that year. But was I was in the Army at that time, I started in Fall of 1988.

The "Big News" from Playboy was still fresh in a lot of people's minds for a few more years, and people used to ask me "So, what is/was it like going to the Number #1 Party School?"

I would always laugh and say "First of all, EVERY college campus is a party school, regardless of what any magazine says in their headline."

Secondly, I 'made the mistake' of being an Engineering major. During Freshman Orientation, they take all the Engineering students into this huge building. Then they shut and lock the doors. Some number of years later (5 in my case), they open the door, let you stagger out into the daylight, put a piece of paper in your hand, congratulate you, and send you off into the big, wide world to go find a job.

I did actually enjoy the hell out of those 5 years. I have always loved the academic environment. I love being in an educational setting, learning new things. I also did spend a fair bit of time enjoying the sights and sounds of Chico and the surrounding areas. I specifically picked Chico State, because my Grandparents lived in the nearby town of Paradise, and ever summer as kids, my sister, mom and I would fly up from Los Angeles to spend a couple weeks with them, and so by the time I got out of the Army, I was already extremely familiar with Chico and all the area anywhere close by. And as I have always hated cities, and at that time, Chico was still a semi small town (permanent population in 1988 was ~15K, and the Chico State student population was another 15K, but almost all left during the summers - I remained in town). As of 2022, Chico population is now >100K :bananadead:

If you are brave enough, in the Off Topic -> Military forum, I started a thread earlier this year asking for recommendations of other Veteran owned coffee companies. That's where I got the suggestion for Caliber Coffee. There were several other Vet owned companies listed, including one that is owned by a female Veteran (if I recall correctly).
