Still having "too much" steering wheel play.

Tightening the Slider nut helped a lot, but it is way over torqued... no feedback thru the wheel tho, I over torqued one before just for fun to see what it felt like, this is still buttery smooth.

New OEM rack over the summer, new Poly bushings, rag joint replaced, slip shaft tack welded, that goofy billet clamp on the P/S side.

Only thing I can think of is the play is actually OK, and the lack of caster just makes it feel loose at speed...

    Also new OEM...

yeah even with max caster on the lowers and 1/8" toe in its sitting with barely .6deg caster each side, maybe due to ride height

Just a thought, but could something be tweaked/bent, like a spindle or steering rack mount, or something like that?

Mine is tight as a slot car despite actually having noticeable play by eye (happens turning 35s, don't think any bushing save for a solid one would avoid that)... but I have 4.3-4.5* of caster...

it could be, but that wouldn't allow for increased play, just irregular alignment characteristics.

yeah that's a good amount of caster to improve feel and highway tracking characteristics.

My thoughts exactly... I was able to get 1.5 on my old LCA's, but I put a new set of OEM bois on there all at the same time, now I can only get to .6

    now hear me out...

I really want to do a LBJ flip because I am "special"

Using 2nd/3rd gen spindles I'd have to make or modify the LBJ retainer to add a steering arm for the rear rack, and CV axle outers would need to be swapped to match the spline on the hub.

whats one more project on the many I'm already not keeping up with?

The stock uppers are usually pretty dismal caster wise with any lift, I think it was a bit short sighted of toyota to only put adjusters on the bottom arms. I think the best I ever got was like 1.2 with a stock arm, it drove okay on small 31s

looking back at my own posts I had modified my old LCAS to move the lower point forward and out before all these high caster LCA's were available, do you have one of those on your rig?

Certainly ambitious, I haven't looked at how much taller those spindles are and the relationship between BJ mount and axle center, a lot of things could change if you substitute spindles. When this set of OEM LBJs dies I'm just going to change to the anonymous fab lowers and call it a day.

Nope, just some Moog replacement stock lowers since my old ones had their bushings seized in the eyelets and the mounts were all cracking. I'm running SPC adjustable uppers though and I'm tubbed a lot so I had room to bring that tire toward the firewall.

its too wet/salty here for that, a local guy to me had his build play and tear out within 6 months.

I don't think the uni-balls in tension are going to be any better than Ball joints... maybe a Delta joint lower conversion?

I don't know but I did notice one thing anonymous has over the TC ones is there's a full boot kit for them now so you can seal them off. I trust TCs own investigations in regard using spherical joints though, they won't last as long as OEM but they're very cheap and easy to replace. I'd just start doing them yearly, I don't daily this truck. It's a toy and other than for wheeling and some donuts in the snow it doesn't get used in winter even.

Since my motor swap I'm back to dailying mine... Maybe I'll mod the LCA's again short term.

Raptor shock conversion is going to drive custom LCAs, custom Tower, custom UCAs... so making a change? to the spindle to use a better LBJ configuration seems like something I should put in my scope..
