No need, nothing is wrong with the plasma cutter itself

It was the VIM box I posted earlier; it receives power from the plasma cutter and communicates with the control box on the cnc table for torch height control reasons

I'm wiring it up as we speak since I found my CAT III plugs

I am really surprised at that job you did .

It is just a quick temporary patch?

Showing that Plasma machine in such dirty condition just does not seem like you.:anonymous:

    Whatchu talkin bout Willis :luvya:

    20230918_170633.jpg

Cleaned her up before I left the garage

This is an "alternative" method...or shall I say "preferred" method for tapping for a signal to control torch height

The method I was using is divided voltage 50:1 with the use of pins 4 and 6 via CPC port in the back

Pins 1 and 2 are used for torch on and off

    20230918_170819.jpg

I chose that route as the plasma cutter is supplied with a plug in which you solder your own wires; I wanted a "professional installation"

Having solder experience, I made a nice clean cable to utilize the divided voltage output not to mention the torch on off switch

    20230918_170839.jpg

Here's an old picture of last year when I first put the cable together

    20230107_204755.jpg

Anyway now I'm raw so I will be utilizing the other part of the VIM module in hopes that it doesn't burn out again

If I were to guess, I'd say there was a voltage spike and that caused the resistor to burn out

Also if you look closely at R9, there's a cold solder joint as there's an opening there on the left leg

Much better . Clean is better for pictures.

I thought you were using the 2 Meter leads through the side of the case.

Yes, the leads will remain poking through the side as you have to manually tap into your plasma cutter for voltage

Here I circled the areas (one is hidden behind the front bezel) depicting where in the board I tapped

    20230918_161639.jpg

The new VIM box will be taped to the side of the panel with double sided tape and the leads will plug in there

The CPC plug in the back will be used only for torch on and off

Other plasma cutters aren't even CNC-friendly and you have to tap in for torch on and off as well as voltage

@koditten or was it because I explained it in a dumb manner that was confusing

    I can take criticism!

I would drill a hole in the case and use a insulated grommet when you receive your new VIM box.

I used to install machine torches where they were not an option and make the internal connections on many different machines.

All part of getting tables set up in the field so much better then oxy- fuel cutting radiographs I don`t miss that

That is an excellent suggestion; I've done that shit for car stereo installs through the firewall but didn't even think about it here

Mainly cause the vents I poked the wires through have smooth rounded edges
