Finally able to make my own post. Been lurking on this thread while waiting on mine to be delivered. Put a deposit on it in mid-June and it showed up on 11 September. Right after it got home, I immediately starting installing the collection of parts I've acquired over the last few months.

So I want to ask if any of y'all have noticed a paint issue with your Solar Octane Pros. I didn't notice it myself until someone posted some pics of it in a Tacoma group on Facebook, which made me go check mine out...and, sure enough, mine has the issue too. The issue being paint bubbling/blistering. No, I'm NOT talking about the orange peel at the bottom of the truck, but blistering under the doors, near the doorsills, which looks like the paint is bubbling and could eventually chip. The bubbles are very small and hard to notice, I'll admit that, but they are there. Is this due to a bad painting process with moisture or dust on the metal, or some similar issue?

Should it just be considered as acceptable defects for a vehicle, even for a $50K+ one?

    (Truck purchased on 8/14/23.)

I’ve got a ‘21 Pro Taco, and have never noticed any bubbling of the paint like that on it, but I can’t speak to a ‘23 Taco.

However, I can speak to a ‘23 solar octane 4R, of which I know of no such bubbling or paint issues. 4R’s are all built in Japan of course, so we’re talking about different factories.

That certainly doesn’t look acceptable and looks more like something I would see on a Wrangler (and I’m a Jeep guy)!

Doesn’t look acceptable and I would have the dealer correct the issue. I have a 2023 trd off-road purchased in June and noticed paint missing from both pinch welds. Currently waiting on Toyota to approve the fix.

Tacos4cheap color matched front letters. I really hate the trend of everyone buying a pro grill. Just trying to be a bit different. My brother has a black mesh grill on his sport and I love it, only one I've ever seen.20231019_100448.jpg

Did a thing. Replaced my 2016 access cab manual with a Pro manual. It’s amazing how similar but completely different this is than my 2016.

This pic was take day 1. Have since tinted the windows, installed smoked mirror turn signals, speaker upgrade, BAK MX4 tonneau, Toyota mud flaps, and swapped the Pro skid plate with my powder coated black Pro skid plate that I had on my 2016 .

    Well done! What's the story?
I remember stiing in a brand new one of those at an mg / toyota dealership as a little kid many moons ago...

I liked the mg, but the little truck caught my eye back then. I eventually had a ton of adventures in toyota trucks from 80s pickups to series 90 and 100 LCs - and even a minivan.

It took me until Nov 2020 to buy my first Toyota pickup...

Are those Cali-Raised rock sliders.....? Been thinking about a set of sliders just not sure the wife will be able to get in the truck. I have predator steps now and she still has to use a short step stool. Got a nice straight on side shot of the sliders....?

New hobby. Buy distressed toyotas cheap, put money into them. Enjoy them for a year or two, flip for a small profit. My 1991 I got in Montana for 4k is already basically done. I think I've put about 3k into it. I love the retro rims, the tires are plenty big, that truck does not need a lift. The next one is down the road. It's a 79. The lady has agreed to sell it for 5k. It needs a new interior and clutch according to her

Picked it up back in June, forgot to post here haha. Loving this color compared to my previous MGM. Paid $5,500 markup (talked the dealer down from $12k markup) cause of California's shit prices. Oh well =)

Currently an MGM owner. Always wanted MGM. Got it. Love it. But the Solar Octane makes me want to trade in

What front bumper is that???? Is it structural? Looks AMAZING! If it's structural it does what it needs without bullshit square tube allover the place

It’s a Warn bumper. Its a somewhat “no cut” bumper that slides into place on the frame. Its made for winching so it will hold up for sure.

Any chance you could post some direct side and top views of the sliders......? These look like 0-deg Cali Raised.....? I'm trying to figure out which brand I want and how tall of a step it will be for the wife. I have the typical OEM predator steps now.
