I wouldn't be that surprised that it went from mild rust to rot in 4 years, especially if they did a bad job with prep/seal/coat. My frame was inspected/coated then failed/replaced exactly a year later. The coating was flaking off with rust under it.

Yikes! What a shame, the body looks solid. Time for a transplant.

I'm not sure there was a frame recall back in 2011. I think it was later than that. My truck was recalled in 2018.

do you woolwax fluid film or cosmoline your frame? It’s cheap and extremely easy to do yourself and I’ve seen guys in the salt belt who do it with zero rust (if they do it right)

My 100 series Land Cruiser died this same death earlier this year. Absolutely gutted seeing her go. For me the decision was tough, but I traded her in at the dealership (and they saw all of the frame rot) and walked out with my 23 TRD OR which I love. Or, put the money in and do a frame swap. I’m glad I didn’t, the value wasn’t there, but maybe someone is ripping apart my old 100 now and making her a beast. If that’s so, I wish him all the best, but I’m glad he’s not me.

Yup! Really great stuff. I was this >< close to doing a frame from them for my '49 you see in the avatar, but then I scrapped the whole idea and sold the truck lol. Of course, the AD frames were no where near what some of the others run. Almost a bargain, in comparison.

Hey guys, got an update! We were able to trade it into a dealership for $4000. Not a total loss thankfully.

Yes it does! Found a great deal on a suburban and had our mechanic look it over really well. There was no visible rust for the first two years at least on that Tacoma. I think someone mentioned that having it rhino lined exacerbated the issue and that sounds about right in our case.

I'd be willing to bet the rust had started well before being rhino lined... it was applied to cover it up. Rhino lining isn't a rust inhibitor... that was put on there for another purpose.

That same Dealership will sell the truck to an unsuspecting buyer for $9,000.
2 months later that buyer will be on TW asking how too fix the frame.

I really hope not! They were well aware of the frame and said they were going to sell it to be parted out. There were a few salesmen who wanted it as a project. However, this was what was holding the frame from splitting in half.
