It CAN be the power cable. Both mine are routed (to stretch out the "traffic antenna" under dash, up A pillar, connected to extension, drop at mirror. Anything happens, I check with just a short cord since I have a spare (somewhere!) I knew that you have to have an antenna cable for traffic, but I did NOT know they were model specific to some extent.

The 65's I had did not get better, they just continued to get worse. To the point it would just do that, and nothing else. I like the big screen, but I have had none of them work! I'm hoping the 5.5" is a compromise that works!

I dunno. 62 pickup you don't see every day. In the budget! 302, C4, 9"/3.50, 10' paint on one side, no AC....

There's an all black 67 with a 6 and everything but AC installed, and no blems at all....

That's nice enough, and something you don't see very often. Making an offer? Asking price? What does, "10' paint on one side", mean?
I'd rather have orange than black. Just too many black cars...

It's 10' paint. Like my truck - dings and color imperfections look fine at 10'. This one has a row of little rust bubbles down the passenger side. For the $10K he's asking, easily risked and patched. I like the color, and front chrome is good! The black one is $16.5K, very straight, very nice, only chrome is the headlamps. Has nice stereo. Both could afford AC, but there is no Vintage Air (direct fit) kit I can see - not a deal breaker. Both are in Dallas are, and could be driven home. Tempting....

I was NOT looking for Econoline PU - I don't trust 60's sheet metal. But, they are obscure, and I like that. I just keep looking for interesting things in my budget, and maybe they will be around. Found a 52 Stude picup down in Rockport. Not nice like these, but priced to go get.

Not that it would have made a difference, but there was a new posting for a 53 or 55 Ford PU, 302, C4, 9", AC, stereo, nice interior that I bookmarked right before I went to bed. Needless to say, at $20K, it's gone.

The Econolines perked me up. Been looking at full bodied hot rods from 30's and 40's that sell for a lot less than they should, because they are not fully "auctionized". I'd like to cruise with the wifey, and doggo too - even if she won't go to any car shows.

It's more fun than reading the news.

    Oh, here's the black one...

OH, my budget and likes don't mean I need or want a show vehicle, I just want to take it to shows and have something interesting to park and talk about!

Wow, whoever did the body work on that black one did a great job. No ripples at all. But that also means any slight ding will blow the whole look. And black needs a lot of care. I've often thought about painting my black truck so it doesn't look like crap all the time. But that's a very pretty truck. Too bad it isn't candy apple red with multiple coats of lacquer...

Yeah, the walk around video on that one is ALL the way around. I'd be scared to take it to Lowe's or load firewood. I'm going to have to go to the hot rod page, because I can't get that stupid orange one out of my head tonight!

Here's a good reason I'm leery of 60's Ford sheetmetal (other than I had a 66 Galaxie), priced right between the two nice ones, and local!

Yeah, I'll do a lot of dents before I'll do a very small amount of rust.

I think my power cables are good because both Driveluxe 51's do it on different power cords. I have a power cord with the traffic receiver for my old Nuvi 3790. The Nuvi finally just died so I got the Driveluxe a few years ago. I then bought one for my wife's car. The traffic antenna is digital where the nuvi's was analog so they tell me. All I know is the nuvi one didn't work. The garmin app on the phone leaves a lot to be desired but you can do traffic when it's connected through bluetooth to the Driveluxe. I still think the Driveluxe does better than the built in ones most vehicles come with now. You get free life time map updates every quarter. I wish they made a decent unit with built in dashcam at the same time. If you want the Nuvi antenna you can have it just for shipping.

I might also mention that changing the batteries on these isn't hard. I've done it twice on each unit.

Thanks for the offer. Both the little Garmins had enough power to change an address quickly, but usually, they remain powered unless updating on the laptop. Toyota pissed me off on the cost to update the NAV in the RAV, which was free in the manual, and free when I got it. For what they want, I got a Garmin. Garmin does have a dashcam unit or three, but I have separate ones, and the integrated ones are too pricey for me. I avoided the one that wants my phone for traffic - BT will only do so much, and I am more of a "device for the task" than all in one for stuff like this. Where I'm going = look here. Phone = will go on the head unit if I want to pick up. Text = phone made noise, look if I want. Dashcam = remember to empty the memory monthly!

    That rambled! EDIT!

Thanks Ken. Yes, Gizmo digs up the moles - she actually does less damage than Annie used to. With Annie I'd have 10' trenches as she chased it. Gizmo is pretty good at just a smallish hole :notsure: Don't know where she got the one yesterday - didn't see any holes anywhere.

    this is my issue, too.

    evening gang.

Good morning all. It's my Friday so far as work is concerned and I'm ready for it to be over. Leaving tomorrow morning on the bike for a long weekend of riding in WV. One of my favorite places to ride, I don't think they have a straight road in the whole state. Just going to be us and roughly 75 more FJR owners hanging out.

Anyone that would have one of these trucks should be shot. I tease about that, but i do still have nightmares about sitting in the middle on the motor cover of one of these when i was a kid. My butt can still feel the burn from the heat.

Dave: I had both eyes done 16 months ago. I opted for the corrective cataract lenses to improve distant vision. Sort of wish I had opted for the lens that would correct my reading vision as well, but the cost was out the window. My eye surgeon did offer a plan for payment with zero interest if paid off in 18 months. So, I used their money up front. Eyes are a complex organ, and I am learning information about eyes every day. I have to have an adjustment to clean the eye surface behind the lens. The area is one of two things that is causing my distant reading of road signs a little cloudy. My distance vision is still good, but sign reading is not as good as it should be at 1/4 mile away.

Terry: I hope there is how about lunch, I am paying. Enjoy it while you can.

    Rodger: Welcome to the thread.

Kurt: I had an Econoline work truck back in the late 60's early 70's and I would not really want to own one today. ;)

Good morning. The area where both trees were removed was cleaned out yesterday. About 15 bags of wood chips for the garden waste day today. First 1/2 scoop of top soli goes into the easiest tree area today after a gym workout.

Good Morning Everyone, cool morning here, 52° sunny on the way to 80.
Going to meet several classmates from high school that live in the area tonight. Got a few projects to get done.

That Econoline truck was a strange item in its day kinda reminded me of the Volkswagen pickup from that 60's time frame. Volkswagen has a partnership with Ford for a midsized pickup in Europe now, but they partnered with Mazda in the 80s for rebranded Rangers in the states. Volkswagen had a rebranded caravan for a while also.
