It seems that RSI has "been in development" of new latches that open from the inside for 3+ years. Is there any actual traction on this? I emailed into support but nothing back yet.

I would guess there have been no real updates?

The last update we posted in early August was that the new latches are targeted for November/December production incorporation and as a standalone accessory, January.

The new latches looks nice. It will be handy to be able to open from the inside on occasion...

    Are there any price indications?

I like the original horizontal latch orientation better - It looks better. :notsure:

This is what I heard from their Support team:

I got mine installed 2 weeks ago and the first rain hit today. It is leaking in 5 different places:

-Along the seam where the rear piece is bolted to the main body
-Along the seam where the front piece is bolted to the main body
    -The pressure vent
-Driver side door at the rubber seal
-Between the bottom of the cap and the front of the bed

The picture of water is after a half day of rain. Im mostly concerned with the leaks where it is bolted together in the front and back. Has anyone tried to seal those areas? I had it professionally installed.

It just rained for 10 minutes and I went outside to look and noticed it's also leaking out the rear hatch door. After 10 minutes of rain there's probably 20 dripping spots of water between where it's bolted together, the doors, and the vent.

that’s not normal to leak like that in the rain Even with snow melting on my topper, It doesn’t leak through the bolted sections/seams.
I’ve only had water intrusion along the front corner where I didn’t seal it and some through the window gasket, which RSI will help you with.

Is the foam/gasket present where the panels meet and bolt together? I can't see it in the photos. I have an earlier gen cap so I am not sure if they changed that part of the design but on my cap even from the inside, you can see the foam/gasket between the panels.

I figured it wasnt normal, otherwise more people would complain. I just wanted to double check. I have reached out to Smartcap about it.

I do see a gray foam gasket on both the front and rear. Not sure if they have changed the gasket material or not.

Other that trying to tighten them a bit more I'm not quite sure what the problem would be. Would be interested to hear what RSI responds with.
