All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Hey Dave, you still selling your FJ80 or is it gone already?
I was gonna contact you about your rig when I saw it posted.

In 1987 I wanted to buy a FJ1200. I was shopping for one and came across this 1985 FJ1100 as a brand new leftover at a dealership about 30 minutes from my home. It was sitting in a corner of the showroom with a thin coating of dust on it. Found out my insurance at the time had a 1100cc limit, probably because of my age, so I bought the leftover. They told me they actually had another one still in the crate! Took a week of vacation and one week later had it back to the dealership for the 600 mile first service. Owned that bike for almost 20 years and put 60k miles on it. Should never have sold it. Big part of why I'm now such an FJR1300 fan I'm sure.

It's still here. I dropped the price to $3500 but I'll do better for a fellow TW member. I just don't use it since I bought a new SxS.

My buddy laid his down. Not much damage but it was repainted all red with no decals. It definitely looked better with the original red/white paint scheme. I sold my all original low mile 1 owner 75 Z1900 back in 2017. With the money they're bringing today I regret selling it. But like I previously mentioned I still have two 900's left lol.

Converted over to triple locked by the po, so yes it has the locked axles. Unfortunately the front diff locker is missing. The po installed a block off plate in its place. Couple days ago I posted it on Marketplace.

Friend of mine in Sand Dog had a CR500. He ended up selling it because he couldn’t control it. I got to ride it in the dunes once tho. With paddle tire, that bike was a scary ripper!!

That seems like a LOT of tech and complexity on a moto thats not really necessary. Direct injection will require a high pressure fuel pump, low pressure fuel pump, all the plumbing for that, a supercharger and all the moving parts for that....

Im all for innovation. But DI and Supercharger on an adventure bike as your "test" case.... ehhhhhhh

I also dont understand the need for oodles of power... on an ADV bike especially. You are on an adventure out in the sticks and the only fuel available is some regular grade 87 from some no name station but your bike absolutely requires 91 due to all the fancy forced induction and high compression stuff - i dont believe even the latest KTM 1290 super adventure has knock sensors to deal with low grade fuel. I mean dont get me wrong, tons of power is stupid fun. But even my heavy ass super tenere with all of 110 hp and 85 ftlbs is a fuggin wheelie machine without traction control on.

I agree with this. I have ping pong from big displacement all to a smaller bike throughout the week. If I can get the ergos right and there isn’t a LOT of road miles. The smaller bikes are perfect. Specifically if you can get the smaller engine, with some sweet suspension and the proper seat height.in regards to off-road, you most certainly benefit from any/all weight savings.
I remember the first time I took my 1190r into the single track at Highland Park. I was doing great, sliding the back end around so I could make the turns, every hill climb was done with ease with knobbies and that kind of power; AND THEN I bucked myself completely off the trail with a whiskey throttle in a switchback!
Let me just say my entire afternoon consisted of me getting this bike off the side of the mtn and back into the trail.
I somehow had found my self in a very nasty spot, and completely tired as shit.

It took everything in my abilities to get that thing back on the trail. So a light bike will always prevail in almost every situation, until you reach higher speeds on the hwy, and then weight helps things stable out at over 75ish.

Actually the Kaw 750 triple two stroke was the widow maker not the smaller 500.

130hp isnt really oodles. I also don't think its a centrifugal supercharger like the H2, its a twin screw.

They are trying to compete with the GS1300 in a big ADV bike?

My 2021 AT can do 87, but I choose to put 93 or whatever premium is. Supposed to be capable all over the world.

I never rode a Kaw 750 2stroke but I always heard that the 500 was quicker than the 750. I've had plenty kz & z1900's and kz1000's and imo the 900's were always faster.

I had a O'Neal chest protector and hated it. Sent it back in exchange for goggles. Then someone gave me this, and its much better. But now that its fall, I switched back to using my jacket.
