I had a laptop and an iPad. The iPad is sweet for surfing the web or other misc things, but not full on computer tasks (though it can be done). I would use my laptop a lot more and barely touch the iPad. I just sold my laptop and got a desktop and the desktop/iPad combo is awesome IMO. It gives me mobile Internet around home and is very convenient while my desktop is great for other things.

Long story short, if you have a laptop already (like Brian. Said above), you won't enjoy the mobility and ease of use as much as if you had a desktop or had to share a computer

I like mine but I wish I would have just save a few more dollars for a Mac book pro! Or waited for the new one but that is how it goes you get something and it's out dated the next month! I would take the 800 and use it on the taco IMO :)

Those MBP are so sweet. I was very close to getting one but opted for a 27" iMac instead. You get sooo much more computer for your money wit a desktop. But the 17" MBP is bad ass

I'd rather get the money than the iPad. There are better iPad alternatives out there if you decide to go that route, which are much much better, like the Blackberry Playbook. But it's just a gadget. I'd keep that 800 and save it up for rainy days.

i mean if you have both then i honestly dont think you would need it. unless you want that 'cool' factor. so go put it towards some tires or a nice lift or bumper ;)

    crap bolted and welded together....
There is no multitasking, which means the iPad cannot possibly hope to compete with laptops or even netbooks. There is no camera, meaning no Skype or video chat. There is no Flash support, meaning casual games, video sites, and graphic-heavy Web sites are going to be a no-no. The name is catchy but it does sound like a sanitary towel, and is a little close to iPod for comfort. Non-optimized iPhone apps look terrible on the iPad. There are no USB ports, You need an adapter for USB for god's sake, no HDMI port, and no GPS. And it's not wide-screen...

    I VOTE $800.
