Sure is ARE MX with windoors makes the truck a heavier brick in the wind but its the best thing i got for the truck. I will never own a truck without a topper changes how you can use the truck completely

Looking at putting some 235/85/16 tires on some Nomad Convoy wheels that are 16x8 with -10. Will this combo work on a stock 2021 SR?

Also, are there any tires this size that aren't the heavy LT variety?

As mentioned above, Destination X/T's are pretty light for an E load LT tire.
In general, I think the 235/85 16 tire size is only available as an LT tire. It is not a p-metric sized tire. I may be wrong. It happens.

@Woofer2609 you are correct, the 235/85R16/E is for commercial use and is almost always 10ply. 40lbs is about the lightest you will find. Cooper HT3's are 40lbs.

The Firestone XT's show rim width of 6.0 to 7.5. The wheels I want to go with are 16x8. How big of deal is that? Or do I need to find a smaller wheel?

I at the time was going to stick with my stock wheels. I ended up with 265/75/16 sl wrangler ultra terrians that weight the same as the x/t. I would stay within the recommended wheel range just to keep it simple. I want to get lighter wheels so I can get back to stock weight on wheels and tires but I may have to get new tires when I get my camper put on the truck.

I knew a few people who owned land rovers and the factory wheel was 8'' and ran multiple sets of 235's shouldnt have any issues. I have an 8'' wide wheel my next set will be 235's

I'm in the same boat, want to run 235/85 but looking into lightweight 16x8 alloys to save those precious unsprung ounces... from hours of research it seems that this combo has been run successfully many times before. But you will obviously lose wheel protection with little tire bulge beyond the rim. And apparently big-box tire stores will not mount tires on a rim outside of manufacture's recommendations, so there's that issue as well. I'm pretty set on trying this combo when the snow melts next spring, so I'll check back then with how it works for me.

Yeah may have issues at big box stores like costco or walmart. I have had luck with discount tire i doubt they would give an issue, besides that same i have seen the combo run plenty of times on a 8'' wheel. My fsw wheels are not my favorite looking they are 2020 trd replicas, i prefer a steelie but 25-27lbs vs these at 17.4lbs a wheel its a big weight savings per corner. Plus i paid about $180 a piece shipped, any other 16'' wheel around that weight was 2x the price, every ounce matters with a 4wd underpowered brick. My weight per corner with a size up 265/75/16 is only up 2lbs over the stock alloy and a 245 all season firestone that comes on the truck. I had 265 AT's on the stock alloys before swapping to FSW wheels, I dropped 6lbs when i made the change and it was definitely felt.

Thanks for the info, that’s what I was hoping to hear. I’m gonna feel like a real idiot if I go through the trouble of buying new lighter wheels and don’t feel a difference… :jpow:

Has anyone tried the Pirelli Mud Scorpions? They are on sale super cheap (<$200) and only available in a 235/85. I love the price but am nervous to go away from the typical well-tested options already discussed here... from my research they are popular overseas where Pirelli is more common.

Pirelli has discontinued them, so that might be why dealers are trying to get them off the shelves with bargain prices. They are load range "C" (6-ply equivalent) which isn't common in that size, so they might be lighter than the typical 10-plies other manufacturers provide. Looking at the tread, it is VERY off-roady and reminds me of something like the Toyo MT that I run. So, I'd guess kind of loud on pavement and not very good on ice, but awesome in mud, rocks, and deep snow.

Pirelli is a first-choice supplier of premium high-speed tires, so I'd be very surprised if they had any major flaws. I suspect Pirelli thought they might get into the off-road market and found out that few of us were willing to try them out. They do make some very premium SUV tires, but I suspect you'll see those on Lexuses and Range Rovers...not Tacomas.

I think you may have found a good option at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for the input! I think I'm gonna pick up a set next week. The fact that they're 10lbs lighter than every other MT has me pretty sold. I'll definitely check back with how they work for me. I'm just worried that I'll love them and not be able to replace them when they wear out!

Can’t wait to upgrade to these tires when it’s time! I find my 265/70 are just unnecessarily wide

    A lot
    What PSI are y'all running?

I've tried 30-35 psi and seems to love the center tread. Might just be part of the tire design or I'm not heavy enough :D
