New pop up camper? Topo Toppers

Are the L-tracks too far apart to mount a rigid solar panel? Can you measure how far apart they are once you have a chance?

For those on stock suspension, how much did the rear sag by once the topper was put on?

 

I don't know if they are too far apart or not, but my L-tracks measure at 46.5 in apart from outer edge to outer edge.
The actual track groove/holes are probably sitting around 45.5 ~ 46 in. somewhere within.

I think they sell the L-tracks separately, so if you would like to mount yours on your own, you can probably install it to your own liking.
I got mine installed by TP when I picked up my Mesa.

I heard they don't sag that badly, but no first-hand experience. I had upgraded my suspension before I picked up mine.

I'd really like to install 1 x 150-200 watt (I have an EcoFlow Delta Mini) rigid panel using the L-tracks without spacing issues. Will have to do a bit of research on a panel sizes now.

I have the Archive Garage Traveler AAL installed because I put on a Leer 100xr (stock front end). Would be nice if I didnt have to upgrade again.

I'm visiting Topo's shop next month to check out the Mesa. Can't wait!

 

I have 47" aluminum extrusion crossbars that I'm gonna run if/when I need them, such as solar panels down the road. I can adjust the spacing between crossbars anytime to a liking since they are not bolted down to the camper. You should see if something like that works for you too, just a thought.

I have the Mesa for my long bed and Katy said it should weigh around ~270 lbs. If you have a short bed, it will be a tad lighter.

Depending on how much you load up during trips or daily, but it shouldn't be too bad.
I ended up upgrading because I use my truck for daily/work and my weekly supply runs easily go over 400~1000 lbs load.

 

I'm very interested in the Mesa, but curious about the sleeping area size with the wedge. I'm 6' 2", so it seems like it could be kind of tight with the wedge… I'd prefer the Mesa but wondering if I am better off with the Badlander. Curious what people's experiences/thoughts are on the amount of sleeping area in the Mesa for taller people.

I'm 5'10" and am visiting their shop next month to test out a mesa for this exact reason.

 

You might be better off with Badlander for 6’ or over. Or plan on additional modification.

Running DCLB with Mesa camper.
I am 5’ 8” and I find it just fitting for me with 3-4 in to spare.
Have a Hest mattress in it (78” long).

The footbox of sleeping bag is touching the lower end of the ceiling in the corner and creating condensation by morning time.
And I have banged my foot on it too while sleeping/turning.

Unless you plan on making your own base panel to utilize the extra room for standing as sleeping platform, it will be tight for those of you close to 6’ or taller.

 

It sounds like if you had another panel, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 the size of one, it would be just perfect for taller people!

 

Exactly.
For now, since I don’t need that much additional room, my next trial is setting 2~3,4 inch of space between panels to extend the base for my set up.
My mattress should be firm and thick enough to withstand some gap underneath comfortably.
If it works, no need for making another base panel.

 

I was just thinking about this too. You could probably move it 2-6" away from the front wedge.

I'm visiting the shop next month. I'm going to ask them what it would cost to make a 1/4 panel!

 

It would only work if you have a certain mattress/bedding set-up.
If anyone is running a regular camping air mat, I can see it becoming little more difficult

 

Fellow tall person here, 6'5". IMO, just go with the Badlander. Even with the Badlander, my feet hang off of the bed

 

Do you have more pics? I have a DCLB Lunar Rock and am trying to gauge the black topper on Lunar Rock. I saw someone (on Topo's IG) had a custom Lunar Rock topo and it looks good but isn't a 100% match.

 

Awning is a new addition but besides that I'm pretty happy with the combo. Would have considered white as an alternative since the dust, mud and finger prints show like nobodies business on the black.

 

Looks good! Light grey might look good with that color, also.

 

I visited TT a few weeks ago but now I'm conflicted between black and graphite color options on Lunar Rock!

 

I vote Graphite; it's the new black.
