For the record I still own a 2nd generation. I love everything about the 3rd gen except the motor and transmission if but for the only reason being ease of maintenance and shifting issues. Turbos don’t scare me as the technology has drastically improved. I own one of those as well. The problem is I’m older and don’t put much faith into the work ethic of the next generation. Therefore I’m going to lean towards vehicles that I can maintain and fix myself. I’m just glad Toyota hasn’t gone fully electric. I’m loving this thread though.

Not much is being said about the 8 speed because the press corps has yet to drive them yet and give their impressions. When this happens it will be the next flood of videos and articles. I, personally, am looking forward to hear about the driving impressions of the 4th gen. Looks and tech alone have me sold already.

I had the option to hold off a year for the 2024 or pick up a 2023 now. I chose the latter. That said, I am looking forward to seeing the new design in the real world and monitoring how they perform. I expect them to have more power and drive better than 3rd gen. There is a lot to be excited about with 4th gen. But I also expect issues that’ll be resolved after the first couple of years, along with some other enhancements. After that couple of years, if I had to have one, I have a feeling my ‘23 will still be holding a solid resale value. Just don’t see that happening, though. Absolutely love my truck and bought it with the intent to keep it for many years to come. Point is, you can love your 3rd gen but don’t dismiss the 4th gen’s either. They’re both from Toyota.

I have a second gen and will probably never buy a third or a fourth because they have way too many electronics in them. I had a first gen and sold it. I wish I would have kept it as a rock crawler but I needed the money. Do you realize that all new vehicles now can be tracked and eventually controlled. It's part of the new world order. They sell you all sorts of cool gadgety conveniences but you have to trade your privacy and freedom in order to enjoy them. Have fun in The Matrix.

Not sure why my opinion strikes a nerve, but forums are literally for the sharing of ideas and opinions. Move along I guess.

Minus the stupid curve, the new Tacoma exterior and interior is closer to what I want in a truck than the Gen 3 Tacoma.

I cannot stop looking at it!

Of course, it is not perfect (unless I designed it or gave my opinions), but it is exciting nonetheless. There are certainly many things that the Gen 3 Tacoma is superior at as well.

And they applied all that knowledge to the new Tundras. I've lost track of all the recalls.

None of the recalls relate to the hybrid engine. Additionally, the previous generations have had their fare share of recalls as well. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here?

The new generation Tundra kinda sucks. I expect the same for the similar Tacoma for a few years. And as the title says, right now the 2023 is still the Tacoma to have.
