Shout out to the Chevrolet dealer in Greensboro, N.C. for honoring their word.

My wife found a Honda Passport at the Chevy dealer, we bought it back in December 2022. The sales guy said he was going to fill it up with gas, my wife said it's already full. He said well next time you're out this way stop by and I'll fill it up.

2 weeks ago we were out that way and my wife said I'm gonna go by and get that tank of gas. I laughed, I said he don't even work there anymore, he had turned in his notice and told us that to make us happy.

We pull up to the front door, there are 7 salespeople standing around. My wife said what was his name? I said I have no clue, our 7 year old daughter who can't remember anything said "it was Joey". We both said for real? She said yeah, he was short and his name was Joey.

I rolled down my window and said is Joey here? They said yeah, he's inside.

Wife went inside, I saw her talking to some guy and it was not Joey, he looked nothing like him.

She came back out and got in the car, I said what did they say? She said they said Joey left already and follow him to the gas station, they put $45 in the car

New poll, I can't remember names at all.

 

I seriously think that is the best prize give away we've had, if not the best it's definitely in the top 6

Me and names can be tricky.

If it is just a casual meeting the name is gone in a few minutes.

Work related I never forget it might take some thinking . To me work was anything to do welding and fabricating and women with horse trailers.

The same thing with finding most places I have been to.

 

I voted. But I did not really see a choice that would match for me. I work for a municipality, in the Parks & Recreation Department. Been here more than 30 years. I meet a ton of people and quite often. It is not possible to remember everyone I meet so I do not try. Most of the time this is not an issue as I will not see the person I meet very often so there is no expectation that I should remember one name 6 months or a year later. But every now and again that new person I meet reappears quickly and, well, shit, I didn't really try to remember their name.But if I make it a point to remember a name I generally have no issues recalling it later, even much later. And to complicate matters more, often people will tell other people to go to me to get a question answered and that person will approach me and call me by my name, which prompts me to think that I should know their name, even if I do not recall ever having met them. Then I wonder if I am losing my mind and I feel like I should know who they are. I have also become good at addressing people in a neutral way that does not use their name so that they do not realize I have not remembered them.

 

I gotta see a face and hear a name a couple times before it sticks. I always make that disclaimer when I meet new people.

 

I needed a pressure switch for my A/C, I found one in stock at auto zone so I wrote the number down and just walked in and handed it to the guy. Told him I need this pressure switch, he pulls it up on his computer and turns the screen to me and ask “is this it?” I said yes, same one I looked at when I wrote this number down. He looks me square in the eye and says “you want me to go get that for you?” I look him square in the eye and said “unless you want to tell me where it is so I can, that’s why I’m here”

Although sometimes, if they make a big impression I can remember, or if I add them to contacts or something along those lines. If it's written down and I can associate the memory, then I can keep track.

 

I am also good with what vehicles people drive. I could tell when my favorite waitresses were working.
