Yep. This happened with 2nd gen to 3rd transition, dealers were charging ADM or MSRP for the few remaining TRD packaged 2015s in desirable configs.

I don’t believe that. We are very close to production so these trucks should be very close or exactly what’s being built. It’s not like these are concept vehicles years before production.

I got my old 2015 in August of that year, managed to get a decent deal because they were getting some kind of end of month sales bonus. They actually did a dealer trade and rushed all the way to Chicago to bring it back so all the papers could be filled out before the month ended.

    This isn’t 2015. A lot has changed.

Right l understand that, was just quoting what was mentioned about the changeover time being a similar situation.

TBH the non max version makes power at the same RPM and when you compare that to the current Tacoma it’ll be a dream for towing. In real terms towing at 80%ish capacity if you keep the TT to below 5k you’ll be fine, especially if it’s a dual axle.

Personally towing at a ratio of 1:1 (truck/trailer) in terms of weight is my max. I towed a 5klb TT (10klb GCW) 8k miles last year and would love to have the power low down. My sweet spot was 5th gear at 63mph, averaged 11.5 mpg for the trip.

The 4th gen will be significantly better at towing I’m sure, max or no max…

I just remember dealers in the the Tristate area when I was stationed there at the time werent discounting 15s and you could get a new 16 allocation for $100 over invoice. Times have def changed.

While the low RPM torque improvement will be nice, I'm not sure towing 5000 lbs with four cylinders is ever a good idea over the long term.

Will be no worse than towing 5000lbs with a low torque v6

It's all relative... 5klb is well within the Tacomas 4cy capability just as towing 14klb with a v6 (F150).

America is mentally behind the rest of the world when it comes to smaller displacements... smaller engines are okay, they will not make your penis any smaller.

A couple months ago l saw a video with 2 Toyota Reps talking at one of the Tacoma reveals. These 2 guys actually did get into pricing as much to say the Tacoma would be competitive with other mid-size offerings, especially when you take account of all the extra equipment that would be standard on the Tacoma. That video has since been deleted as it appears that strategy may have changed.

All ‘23 OR’s have the same Goodyear Territory’s as the Pro’s. The ‘24 Pros still get (33”) Territory’s, but that auto show OR was sporting BF Goodrich.

De-contending items that people otherwise would not notice is a pretty good way to add profit, but Toyota should tread lightly when deleting features that most existing owners already take for granted, like sliding rear glass, phone chargers, and the power seats that we waited decades to finally get in 2020. Or blinkers.

They could just be referring to the fact that every new Tacoma has a full size digital dash and safety sense standard and adaptive cruise. GM decided to limit the full size to the ZR2, Denali, and AT4X and everyone is now pissed who bought the lower trims since the MY24 will have full size in all trims. Both Ford and GM make the make the safety and cruise as options.

Eventually they have to put their cards on the table. It’ll be pretty soon now. I’m sure the trims, options, packages and prices are locked at this point. I expect all of the marketing assets are done, too. Launch should be soon.
