I am pretty sure we all have stories some what just like this.

I was told any employees with and skill get fast tracked into management .

having several stores within 20 miles they vanish fast.

My Duramax A/C quit last year, I didn't drive it much so I couldn't see getting it fixed. One day back in July a buddy called me who is a mechanic for John Deere, in casual conversation my truck came up. I told him the fuses were good and the compressor wasn't locked up. He said it's probably a pressure switch, look on the dryer hanging on the firewall and put a jumper in it.

After I got off the phone, I did that and the A/C worked fine so I taped the jumper up with some tape and it would work for about an hour before it would freeze up. Since we moved an hour away, that's all I needed.

I thought I had to take it somewhere to get it fixed cause I would lose all the freon, until I watched a video this morning and realized I was wrong. Went and got a $25 pressure switch and it works like it should now, I'll see if it freezes up on the way home. I charged it when I put the jumper on it with a can from wally world.

Since we moved I deleted a lot of people who I'll probably never see again out of my phone, I get text about once a week that I have no clue who it is. I don't ask either :anonymous:

Dude that was supposed to be at the house Tuesday at 5 just blew my phone up with text. Said he moved the appointment to today and his daughter was supposed to tell me and she didn't. I told him Saturday would be better from 1-2, we'll see what he says.

Names: I hate meeting people, especially in groups as there is only the slightest chance I will retain the names.
If I see it on a name tag or write it down the odds rise slightly.

Phones: A byproduct of our cell phones is that we don't know anybody's number.
I barely remember Mrs Greens number - the same for 20 years.

Went to the dump, the coal bin load weighed 875 pounds. :militarypress:

Rusty, speaking of the dump I borrowed this trailer from a friend to haul a brush pile off from our old house, the first load Cole and I overloaded it and it wouldn't dump, guy had to rake some off. He charged $40 a load, the trailer was rated for 8 ton.

    IMG_7687.jpg

He needed it back so I only got to haul 2 loads. A friend of mine saw it hooked up and said he had the same trailer but it was a gooseneck and I was welcome to use it anytime.

I took him up on it and hauled the rest of the brush pile off from the old house. It pulled so much better with the weight up in the bed than being bumper pull.

    IMG_7903.jpg

I ask him if I could rent it to move so I wouldn't have to rent a uhaul, as long as it didn't rain. He said I won't rent it to you but will take what you give me, fair enough.

I hauled shop equipment, gravel and everything we could until we could move house stuff from inside. We were closing on a Thursday at 10:00 on the new house, the new shop was jam packed because they told us we could put whatever in it, but not the house until we closed.

That Weds. our old preacher was having a retirement party and ask us to come, we got home at 9:00 and I looked at the weather, it was supposed to start raining at 11:00 Thursday morning. The wife and I decided to load it with house stuff and go put it on the front porch of the new house, go close and come move it inside.

We started off with both couches, leather on the front and packed everything we could after that, it was a load. We got done about 11:00 that night.

I woke up at 3:30 that morning to the sound of pouring rain :rain:

I woke her up and said IT'S RAINING, I'm going to unload this. She said how you going to get the couches off by yourself? So we got the kids up and left at 4:00

We unloaded it on the porch in the rain and dark with our phone flashlights, got done at 5:45 and decided to go eat breakfast.

We went to one place and it wasn't open and my wife said those 4 words I thought I'd never hear her say....."let's go to Hardee's"

    That was a long day.

I hauled 10 loads in the guys gooseneck, when I took it back I took $300 with me and handed it to him and said thank you and ask was that enough? He said I can't do that, he gave me 2 of them back

I can imagine safety is not the tires taker's priority one.

Have a good friend that told me that I was welcome to use his backpack blower. I said great, can I give you some money and I will fill it up with gas. He said no money and if I filled it with gas I would never be allowed to use it again....

I kinda suck with names. If my wife and I are talking about various people, I can remember names very well, in fact, I think I'm getting better at it. If I was at a function where those people were... I get all sweaty and draw a total blank. :anonymous:

True story, except for the sweat.

To rent a dumpster for tearing out my floors is....get this....$1014 for 9 days.:eek::eek:

My buddy offered his dump truck (free of charge :)), we should be able to dump it for about 100 bucks:):)

Well fellers, I consider myself a mild mannered person - but there are some things that make you want to say :censored: !

As usual, I was mowin' along, singin' a song (Nanci Griffith, she is never far away ;) ) finishing up lawn #7 for the day.

Suddenly a tree branch flipped my hat off, making a mental note to cut that later I reached behind me for said hat.

Remember I have a ZT so the engine is in the back, I grabbed the hat and carried on.

Not 15 feet further I had an odd sensation on the top of my head :confused:.

    KIMG3376.jpg

Seems the hat hit the exhaust.
Yeah, sort of set it right on fire...

This was my mowing hat - I paid a full $2.99 for it on clearance at The Mart about 5 years ago.:mad::mad:

Here is a poll idea - how many Wrenchmen are habitual hat wearers?
