So far as I can tell, you have the perfect truck, in the perfect color. But I might be biased…

I like fake scoops, color matched fender flares, and manual transmissions. The blue manual 4th gen Sport in various pics and videos I've seen looks great IMO.

Yep. OR with tow package is all I want, if that is even a thing in the 4th gen

Fake hood scoop and fender colored match body panels (prefer black) is a turn off.

I like the OR. We live at the foothills of the blueridge mountains, so having that let's us go down some trails and also driving around the city. Little best of both worlds. It fits what we do. Lift kit and tires purely for aesthetics to me. It helps give ground clearance, but it's mainly for me.

Pro just doesn't fit, the price, and also the shock seats. I'll never be in a situation where I'll see a benefit from that

Tacoma is one of the slowest pick ups out there, if not the slowest. No idea why would people waste money on " sport " lol.

    4th Gen section.

It’s about to be the fastest truck in its segment with the iforce max engine.

Simple answer, because it can be had with a manual transmission.

Agreed, but I got the impression @4runnerToTacoma was comparing a TRD Sport to an SR or an SR5, and that is the context for my response. :)

I do really like how the scoop makes the front of the truck look aggressive. I wanted OR originally but no MT option with DCSB models here.

Honestly though, my sport has impressed me off road many times. TC system works really well, 100 times better than open diffs.

The overwhelming majority of owners will never use the rear locker out of need, just like our forefathers who explored every trail we will ever go on with nothing but an LSD, some shitty bias ply 33s, and a Busch light

I mean.. Aren't they kinda same other than looks??.... Off road makes sense because Toyota trucks have always been legends on harsh terrains.. Lets not get started on places they use land cruisers in Eurasia, Africa.. South America.. Its damn insane.

TRD off road comes with stuff that you can actually USE.

Sport? The 3rd gen tacoma is actually slower 2rd gen because 2rd has big ol' 4.0L V6 and is lighter. 3rd gen V6 is 7.7 seconds for 0-60 for you. 4runner does it around 7.5 , while that truck is like over 2000 lbs heavier if not more lol.

So yea regardless what I am told, sport is a huge rip off in my opinion. But hey some people like exterior and pay for it.

I would rather have SR5 V6 and save rest of the money for my personal addons on truck :)

@4runnerToTacoma, when I got my Tacoma last year my son had a 2nd Gen ACLB with the 4.0 6MT engine/tranny combination; off the line the Gen2 was a hair faster, but the Gen3 quickly made up the difference and then left the Gen2 in the dust. As for the TRD Sport compared to the SR5, the latter cannot be had with a manual transmission, and I refuse to drive anything with only two pedals under the dash.

As for it being a huge rip off, believe it or not, configured like for like (as close as was possible a year ago) the SR5 actually cost about $1,000 more than my TRD Sport 6MT with literally every option. Cast all the shade you want on the TRD Sport, most TRD Sport owners could care less.

I mean its their money, if they dont care thats their problem lol.

Oh and let me remind you that 2rd gen tacoma had same V6 4.0L as not only 4runner but Land Cruiser and Tundra.

Today the V6 we get is used in garbage stuff like highlanders and camry's. But I own V6 3rd gen myself so not much I can say about other people buying it.

Its just Tacoma was moved from Truck brotherhood of 4runners, Land Cruisers, Tundras to soft SUV brotherhood of Highlanders and all that bs.

So given my TRD Sport cost less than an roughly equivalent SR5, then how is it a rip off and how did I waste my money?

Not sure, last year when I configured both the SR5 with every option and compared it to my TRD Sporty 6MT with every option, the latter cost over $1,000 less. That's just how the 2022 price list worked out; sorry if you don't like it or believe it. Regardless, I would have willingly paid several thousand more just to get that coveted third pedal under the dash.
