Perhaps a loose nut? Between the steering wheel and drivers seat?

That is one piece of advice I thought would not be presented. It is prudent and practical, but this forum is not exactly so ... erm ... prudent or practical.

    Any other not-so-prudent suggestions?

Don't go in reverse and you won't have to worry about it.

I think the socket needs to be measured to see if it has worn to much to allow a new bulb to work.

True ... I can run over curbs now unlike my Corolla.

Since I am on the subject now of taillights and I do backup much now (pulling forward from parking spaces is safer it seems). But the light from the stock taillights may be made brighter with replacements. Any thoughts?
