Well.... Nothing in life (That's worthwhile anyway) is free. $3K a semester is a bargain if you learn a marketable skill, that transfers into a lifetime of a nice healthy paycheck.
You should have seen what I paid putting two sons through Washington State U. My savings account took a massive hit. Even with all the Pell grants, etc etc.

this sort of thing happened to me once at NTB when I had the Jeep. I went in later in the afternoon because something was off with a front tire. it had a strange but new vibration.
The tech and manger looked it over pulled the tire found that a weight must have got lost. they balanced the tire again no charge. I asked are you sure? they said it's cool we like your Jeep. Funny when I told a friend that he said they probably were hoping for something more but no.

Really, I see a few reasons why it's hard for younger generations, most of it things they choose. Working in Food service in my first so called Career we would always get people coming in to apply for work with tons of earrings and face piercings. As soon as we told them we had a dress code and health codes to adhere to that would require them to remove that stuff during their shift they were no longer interested in the job. Now it's the same and some new things with the young generation starting to work now, like rainbow hair, wanting to be called they/them, zie/zir or whatever no one has time for that in a workplace. Big Companies like Bucees won't hire people with unnatural hair colors because it's not the image they want customers to see. That and the work ethic of some of them. Always wanting to be on social media apps on their phone or texting when there's work to do. It' them that keeps them down not older workers. We had to start at the bottom too. My first real job was at a discount department store for $3.85/hour, now convenience store near me are paying many times more to start. Wages I had to work years to get up to.

    Well said thanks Bro!

I agree things are Hopeless in some areas but there's often reasons for that. Sometimes it's things people voted for. In General life isn't always fair for most of us, we all have to work to do our best. Nothing has come to me easy in my life either. I don't complain about because that does nothing to make better.

"You will save me! I will just sit here until you do save me!"

Not everyone has this attitude, but some do. When they start setting standards things get difficult.

"Living wage" karma is why you are seeing an explosion of these self checkout stations at retail establishments and restaurants. The ROI was not there to install these things before, but it is now! And all those people who worked as cashiers and order takers are wondering what the hell happened to their jobs!

Business owners reported this before higher wages were ordered ... "salary" is a cost that could not increase randomly and still stay open. Since "salary" can be one person or 100 people ...

My long hair as a teenager probably didn't help but I always made sure to take out my earrings (they weren't really accepted 35 years ago like now). I had a little chat with someone at HR in my company a while ago about similar things, though knowing the other stuff I suspect it was a handy excuse as I see far more people (both men and women) with much more than long hair and an earring. I was also spoken to about wearing jeans..which my company specifically says in the dress code are acceptable, yet people wear ripped jeans all the time and nothing is said. Oh well..

I can relate in a way to the fact that it shouldn't matter if you are a good worker what you look like but...

    I drive a Miata.

I'm growing my hair out because I'm a manchild and got curious on how far it can grow.

As far as clothes, it doesn't matter if I wear a labcoat all day and that my coworkers wear jeans and t-shirts, I always wear khakis and a collar.

I really don't care what other people wear to work. But from experience, some people are always going to be judgy busybody karens, and it plays well into the office political game to always appear well groomed at work. It just makes life easier. If nothing else, it gives me the illusion of consistency and approachability, both of which work to offset my real traits of a grouchy-ass insufferable contrarian that can't stand to be around other humans. I use the dress code to my advantage. I try to explain that one to the young and spirited that are in their first years of a real job. Sometimes those silly nonsensical rules can be utilized as tools to get you an edge in your career, and other times breaking the rules is what gets you an edge. The key is to understand what it is you are rebelling against before deciding to piss upstream. :cookiemonster:

Three men in a truck on a ranch. There are several gates that need open/drive-through/relock. Which man in the truck is the boss?
