Took my truck in for the front end squeaky body bushings and the dealer called to tell me I need struts too. Only 20k all mild road miles. Never off road at all. Strange?

Take it somewhere else (e.g., a professional mechanic) and get a second opinion.

It's a 2022 under warranty still. If it wasn't under warranty I'd never go to the dealer

What’s wrong with them? Leaking? Cupped tires?

Service advisor just told me they need to be replaced under warranty and that the problem was noticed during road test after the body mount bushings replacement. Front end was squeaking since 5k miles. They denied they could hear it 3x. This time there was no missing the noisy front end.

ahh so they weren't sure where the noise was coming from and presumably it was easier for them to replace under warranty, as Toyota presumably doesn't make them prove shocks were bad, like other parts.

I guess unless it's just an easy way to pad warranty work for factory reimbursement but being the upstanding industry that car dealerships are I don't think they would do that.

If its all under warranty I'd say let them do it

Definitely not unheard of. It the shock seal wasn't installed correctly, then it can make noise and eventually fail causing a leak. Let them do thier swapnostics on the warranty dime and hopefully they swap out the correct part to fix the issue.

Yes. They called today didn't have them in stock so another day or two. The service advisor told me that one was leaking and you have to replace both together. Sounds right

Always replace them per axle. If you replace one then you can have ride control or tire wear issues.

Got my truck back today. All front end work done under warranty.......New struts, springs, front bushings and they did an alignment. Squeak is gone.....actually every bump and squeak is gone. I really think my truck feels better than the day I picked it up new. The squeak started around 5k miles and I guess I got used to it to some degree but the bounce in the front I didn't realize was a problem. I was happy with the ride before but now I can't believe the before and after. In full disclosure I've been driving my wife's wrangler for the past 6 days.

I had a squeak around 10k miles and they said the body mounts were loose. They tightened them and all the noises went away. I noticed a couple weeks ago it was doing the same thing again so when I brought it in this week for service they checked it out and replaced the body mounts and centered the body. Now I'm wondering if there was any impact to my struts or any other front suspension. It seems to ride just fine so I'll just go with it until something happens. Your comment about the truck feeling way better now makes me wonder if everything is normal or just "normal" to me.

I highly doubt loose body mounts had any impact on your struts or other front suspension.
More than likely; The OP’s dealer used the parts carpet-bombing technique, rather than finding the source of the problem.

I'm not too worried about it and I would like to upgrade the suspension sometime anyway.
