You could try Agua Fria, Bloody Basin Road. 38 miles to the foot bridge where you ONLY MAYBE can cross in a truck in wet weather, for now just park.

18 miles in just after a "road width varies" sign you get this fun descent with a minor ditch to the left ...

Just curious ... how have you and the wife found the 90 degree nights and (mostly) clear sunny skies? Temps will drop soon, and the parking lots at the state/city parks will fill up fast when highs drop into the 80s, but 70 degree days at Christmas are not exactly intolerable.

Glad you could make it out! I’m all about those kids. One thing I learned from my own parents is you gotta be there and be present.

@Yacob_D and I are going to be doing a scouting run here in late October/early November for a trail run up by pleasant. I’m also down for a backway to CK trip.

This trail is swarmed by SxS's. Nearly got hit there while parked trying to camp on a weekend. Its a super popular trail as there was (last I heard it got destroyed by a rain storm) a hot spring at sheep's bridge

The problem with the "wide open spaces" of AZ trails is that on weekend/holidays EVERYONE is out there and a restful "not expecting vehicles on the blind side of the bend" is not really possible.

Since I am still learning. I did NOT take that descent because I did not want to run into a facing vehicle on that "minor-side-ditch" road and be forced to backup or "share the road". I now prefer to take unknown of "known blind hill-wraps" curves on weekdays when most people are not there.

Yeah that make sense, people going up hill have the right away but it is easier / less scary being tucked up against the mountain vs being on the outside edge. The road isn't that terrible down there last I was there I would say plenty of room for a pass if you needed to but there are long lines of sight and people will typically just wait if they see someone coming.

This trail is still pretty close in town you can drive to it in a SxS from the cave creek side so its worse than some of the other trails that you would have to at least trailer the SxS to

I rescind my recommendation to Supr4Lo ... I forgot about crowded/fall-offs. And the "close to Cave Creek" is a factor as well.

Crown King is a better choice ... fewer drop-offs, wider.

The switchbacks going up that same bench on Dugas rd are a bit more technical

The road through BumbleBee (the I-17 exit says "no services") is tame, at least as far as I took it. Crown King was indicated 20 miles further. Castle Hot Springs Road approach at lest up until the cut-off to Crown King (did not take that at the time) was tame.

I've gone the back way to CK in my RZR, but I was just wondering if I'd make it round the lake lol. I have no problem full sending it (my signature says it all lol) but I don't have 4wd so I wasn't sure if there was plans of crawling
