"Imminent threat to self or others" figures in to judicial decisions for civilians, but probably rarely on-the-scene. You will be questioned, probably detained until the DA lets you go, even if the person you beat-up/shot was pointing a gun at someone.

Even the movie scenes of everyone with a gun in western towns is false. Most town had sheriff/marshal who required everyone check their guns in, returned when you leave. Kept the drunks from shooting up the town.

In modern times, it limits vigilante/amateur/unskilled intervention.

Seems like another country from here, where we don't even lock our homes and neighbors regularly leave garage door open all night.

In AZ, I can always find *someplace* that only has people living there who want to live far from the crowds. I might even consider a tow-along after purchasing a shotgun and 30-30 or .45 Henry.

There's a fine line between self-defense/defense of property and assault. Can't say for his case specifically since I know nothing about it but generally:

Stopping/preventing further damage = ok. Chasing a thief down and beating the shit out of them = unfortunately not ok.

A friend living in a nice neighborhood/house but still rural-enough county was told by the sheriff that and bloody drag marks from the street back to the house could be ignored if the deceased could be proven to have been in the house.

I have a client, he went to petco for some supplies. When he came out, some homeless guy chased him to his car (BMW). He ran and got into the car. The guy then proceeded to walk/stalk around the car and key/scratch the car on every panel.
He asked me what I would do, (btw, I don't have this issue. Why, because nobody fucks with crazy.) :fistbump:
He asked, what if they had a knife. I said " if he did that, the second I heard one scratch being made I would have gotten out with one of the 3 things I have in my truck... a pry bar, a jack handle and a knife. I would have grabbed the jack handle and if he threatened me with a weapon.... I would have broken his forearm and the knife would have been dropped. Then I will go from there, depending on the situation. I will only defend myself, not be the aggressor.

Lol well I knew that… Wondering what part. Sad more people don’t try and stand up. Some serious things need to change there. I couldn’t live like that. NY is getting bad enough

Downtown San Fransisco has a major problem with "tent camps". Businesses can barely stay open because the tent-people scare away customers.

The "caring" politicians do not live in those neighborhoods and must be driven at gun-point to go where "those unfortunate situations" exist. Apparently no official action has occurred for this in years.

I am afraid all major cities in this country are all shit holes. I hate this place, if it's not the crime. It's dumb citizens who are to afraid to actually stand up for themselves. :anonymous:

God damn, some of you living in an all out fend for yourself county

I live in CA and there are plenty of times where the garage doors are left open at night, vehicles unlocked, and even homes here
