1gen shell was immensely easier to seal than 3rd gen. 1gen just needs the right weatherstripping with two connected parallel tubes and that 1.25" L shaped garage door weatherstripping for the tailgate, a couple hours.

3rd gen has leaky holes added everywhere and takes a full day to do it right.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It does take constant attention to keep things dry.

Without heat Heat lots of condensation in the winter it rains as things warm up.

Sorry to hear about your situation. From my experience, the quality/availability of campsites was a much bigger factor in quality of life compared to the creature comforts you may or may not have in your vehicle. Doesn't matter if you have the best set-up in the world if you're dodging game wardens and obnoxious families.
Also couldn't agree more with @Bivouac, condensation can be a giant issue if you're somewhere cold. Having a leak-free topper doesn't help when the moisture is coming from the inside... I currently have a carpet liner in my topper and it seems to solve the issue. Haven't tested it in the super cold yet, but I've had a few mornings that left a little frost on the inside of the windows and the rest of the topper stayed dry. Opening a window helps too, but then you're playing the balancing act between warmth and condensation...
Either way, best of luck! Feel free to shoot me a message if you find yourself in the WY area, I've depended on folks when I was couch surfing in the past and would be happy to pay it forward.

I have the double bulb seal. It’s the front edge of the bed where there are two 1/4” height differences in the respective corners. Water always gets through.

Even with my Snugtop super sport that has a lip that goes over the side edge of the bed.

I'm about to solve a couple of leaks in that area... This is not what I want to hear :lalala:
