Not a problem at all. With how much land there is out here to explore with no cell service, I think it's worth it. I pay $12 a month with a year long commitment and this is what it includes, but really I just use it to text my wife. The first 10 are free and then $0.50 each after that.

From the specifications I saw, the "mini" has "Trackback", like my Instinct watch. The watch is more for elevation and distance (well, mostly accurate ...) and "Trackback" which is quite accurate. Aside from "Trackback" I understand "mini" is mainly communication-only, with subscription.

I believe you can also create a route with waypoints on your PC and load them into your mini, and then follow that track but it's not something I've ever used. One thing that I will start playing with is the track points and MapShare, even if they'll cost a whopping $0.10 per. That way I can leave breadcrumbs as I'm out riding and my wife can follow along from home on her PC if needed.

was going to say that is kinda a useless feature if you have some gps device that can run gaia or something it will record your track with gps loc with predownloaded maps but the ability to look at it from home would be a cool feature for the wives

Gonna have to cancel my Disney+ subscription to switch to a safety plan! Say by to Sunday morning cartoons!
I like it, can take it on foot or in the truck. Good add to the backpack on solo hunt trips. Never looked into something like this.. :spending:

I carry a full size inreach for my backcountry adventures. Picked it up before I started on the AZ Trail. The tracking/mapshare is nice. My wife and mom could follow my progress and I could check in with them when I stopped for lunch or to set up camp etc. Went full size for redundancy. Didn't need to rely on cell phone to type out messages and also back up maps on bigger screen if cell phone went missing or broke

Honestly I think you’ll be good but we will have a trail report for the actual run after we scout it, I’ll keep you posted

I'll vouch for the inreach as well. I pay for two, one for me and one for the gf. Between her trail runs, my offroading, and our tendency to camp in bear country, they come in handy. And our parents appreciate the check ins too.

Two questions here. First are you calling the forest service roads that lead to Sheeps Bridge trails or are the actually separate trails? Second, did the "trail" or the hot spring get destroyed by a storm?

They are just forest roads. Progressively getting slightly worse as you get closer to Sheeps Bridge.. I haven't been out in years, probably before any major storms.. so Idk about the hot springs. They are secluded/sheltered somewhat from the river tho and would be ok if I had to take a guess.. a lot of reeds and other vegetation surround/enclose the hot springs. You gotta get small to get in.. little hobbit entrance. Your van would probably be just fine getting out there from Bloody Basin. It might just take a bit. Slow going due to rock beds in some sections.. others are just washboard forest roads. The end at the bridge will be the worst and what to look out for. Descent with switchbacks down to the river. Watch out for g-outs and take your time. That's it. Sandy shores, trees, etc once you get to the bottom. Lots of hiking, swimming, exploring to be had. There will most likely be others out there. Watch out for sxs's.. oh.. and flash floods.. had to get air rescued from out there when I was a high schooler.

I’ve probably asked this before but does anyone else in here ride dirt bikes? I’ve got one riding buddy but always looking to make more so I don’t have to ride solo. I’m in Surprise on the west side and have only been to Boulders OHV for some quick morning rides. Heading out there tomorrow morning.

That’s what a hitch carrier from hobo freight is for for the 4R. I’ll make it up to cinders eventually and you can show me around

Just did sheep bridge a few weeks ago
Road is significantly worse than was last time I did it in 2018. Oddly enough the final bit down to the bridge is easy. Still easily do able in stock taco but definitely worse than before

Not sure about the springs saw the trail my buddy went down there but saw 3 rattlesnakes in 10 feet so with all that tall grass overcrowding the path he bailed.

Built one and modded it a few times but it always seemed sketchy. More of the fancy lifting style but could never get the jack to work right.

I just refuse to look in my rear view mirror at it shaking around. If I can’t see it, it’s not a problem.

That wasn’t an issue with this one. Secured the bike by bolting through the pegs. Just always had issues with the jack design. Forget the actual numbers and I have a drawing somewhere but this thing lifted the bike like 30” or some shit lol. Only had to lift the bike like 4” to load it and then jack it up to that height. Each jack iteration lasted 1-3 uses and I haven’t messed with it in probably 3 years. Just sitting on the side yard

Were you using a hydraulic jack? I saw one on the gram where it used a huge bolt screw, like what you would see on a scissor jack, and an impact to raise and lower it. I thought that was pretty neat being fully mechanical.
