I've been pulled over for this in South Dakota.

It was hot out and i had to adjust the boys.

He then asked about my "stunt pegs".
Had to inform him that it was not a BMX bike and that those were sliders.

@nd4spdbh scratch that, it sold. Probably for the best. I should hold off and get another season on the current bike before I think about getting something so large.

I expect it to happen one day on the husky. I stand all the time to stretch after hard days of riding.

That's definitely a stunting thing. Officer pulls you over and sees you aren't a 19 year old dickwad ain't no way you're getting a ticket

Its OK, Another will come along, that bike was ideal for a super tenere from a year / options perspective (2nd gen 2015+ with the electronic suspension package - just barely edging out the 2014 ES as there was a slight cam tensioner change for the 2015 model year and greater). Miles were quite low which +++, but the super tenere has been proven to go 100k+ without much more than oil/rear gear oil and tire changes... so really anything lower miles (30k -) and 2014 + is ideal.

FYI to give you some perspective I got my 2015 Super Tenere ES w/ 21k miles + Givi side case frame + 2 x Givi trekker 33L case + corbin and stock seat for 9200 private party. This means uncle sam didnt need to know the full extent (like you would have to at a dealer) saving me 650-700$ in sales tax #CAShit ... and this was right at a year ago when the COVID bliss was still a thing.... people I feel are upon harder times now and will be exponentially increasingly from this point on (meaning lightly used prices on luxury items will decrease quite a bit).

I cant tell you how much I freaking L O V E this aesthetic. Just living life, a beautiful backdrop, a bike that TRULY gets used, and living away from the BS. +1 man. Much Jelly.

I think you are fine, Like stated its to target those stunting idiots.... still sucks tho. Im of the opinion, give them an inch they will take a mile (eventually). Let them have this then its technically a freedom that future generations dont even know was able to be had. That sentiment goes for a multitude of things.

There's bunches on there. If you search 2014+ Super Tenere's nationwide there are quite a few. There's a schnazzy yellow one for 10K, but I don't like the bars on it. There's some others with better kit as well. That particular 2016 that I was watching was just complete. Had the crash bars, bark busters, yoshimura exhaust, and was a great price. It was also the closest one to me. Kind of a perfect storm that was giving me a half chub. The likely way this will play out is going to be saving money to buy a new one, and hopefully catching a winter sale on a previous model year that is collecting dust. If I'm REALLY lucky Yamaha will revamp it with a crazy TFT and more gizmos I don't need so they can't even argue that the new model year is the same as the old one, and therefore the same value. That's where I was stuck on the CB500X. No changes to the 2023, so they wouldn't budge much on price. They did give me extra for the accessories on my RZR I traded, though.

But we reached a swamp and had to turn around.

    I didn’t want to.

Good day, I’m happy with my Yamaha for trails, rode way smoother than the 690.

I bought some bar end mirrors and stuck them on the inside of the handlebar on the Grom. They'd work if my legs weren't so long and my knees didn't keep hitting them. :D

    upload_2023-9-22_22-26-6.png

Also swapped the shift linkage for a direct mounted shifter that feels so much better.

Those mirrors don't hit the tank at full lock?

They do and I'm anticipating them getting smashed, but if I want to lock the bars I can fold them up and they clear.

Sorry to quote you twice, but it's the easiest way to tie it all together.

I think you might be onto something with the luxury items coming down. Look at this listing for a brand new one. https://www.cycletrader.com/listing...ense[make]=Yamaha&adsense[model]=SUPER TENERE Now, to be fair, Ride Now is known for advertising with every possible incentive and discount added and excluding every fee possible, so I'm not sure if that's what is happening here. I'd have to touch base and aske what the OTD price on it would be, but that doesn't mean I won't use the ad to club some closer dealership down a bit on price if I can. :drevil:

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
If a cop pulled me over for standing in my legs I would laugh in his face.
I would then proceed to tell him how bored he has to be and what a waste of both of our time.
I have had a similar thing happen once. I told him to write me the damn ticket and focus on a part of our society that needs help, not easy pickings.
    I literally drove off standing.

I got several friends that are law enforcement. It’s a matter of who you’re dealing with. For me it was the green horn, and after I started rambling off the names of his superiors he most certainly acted differently.

I hate to break it to ya but I highly doubt yamaha will continue production on the super tenere let alone do any updates to it at this point. It doesn't meet euro5 emissions (so it hasn't been sold in pretty much all of Europe since 2021) and never really sold well to begin with.

Now that stated, I'd love if Yamaha came out with a completely new model and gave the super tenere name a little diet weight wise and updated the the engine but kept the good ole reliability, shaft drive and ease of maintenance.

It's obvious that the moto industry and the customers are really liking the option for a middle weight more off road oriented ADV (tenere 700, KTM 890, Suzuki 800, triumph Tiger 900, bmw f850gs, Honda transalp etc) as well as a more long distance bigger bike (Honda Africa twin, bmw 1250gs, KTM 1290, tiger 1200, Suzuki 1050, etc).

Needless to say I could see Yamaha going "hold up we are missing out on the bigger adv bike and the current super tenere just isn't making the cut in that field, we see the popularity of our tenere 700 let's make a new big one" (one can hope! )

The market isn't going to encourage a lot of R&D right now. Hell, look at the recycled bits on the TransAlp. I love hondas, but just porting in the CB500X headlight and not offering any comfort features on your upper midweight "adventure" bike was pure lazy. I get that they don't want to cannibalize Africa Twin sales so it had be less kitted out, but they could have at least pushed it toward the dirt like their fans are wanting. The Rally Raid kit on the CB500X shows that Honda fans want it, and the T7 shows the market is on fire for it, so Honda just stretches the CB500X to fit a little more powerful engine in it? Sad waste. If they had made it a shaft drive and given it off road suspension they could have priced it at $13K and sold ever single one they made. The hype for the TransAlp was real, and so was the disappointment.

I'm just bitching, because I think an 85-90 HP 750-900cc shaft drive bike weight no more than 500 lbs. with a decent fuel capacity would sell like mad.

Thats been a classic honda move for a like 2 decades now though.... "Bold new graphics" .. Hell the OG grom dash they used on various different bikes for quite some time.

I would 100% entertain the idea of a bike like you are describing. A man can dream!
