ha I'm not sure if it was for sale or belonged to one of the employees. There was a Ninja parked on the sidewalk that was fully stunted out.

They did have a couple new bikes on display from local dealers... an Aprilia RSV4 and one of these I'd never heard of before

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
The mid weight bikes shine, and they sell more than twice the numbers than they do the bigger bikes.
Hell the place up here is only being allotted 5 1290r Adventures R models for all of 2024.
They will have more of the non R models, but it’s a good indicator that the big bikes don’t move as they used to.
The dealership had 75 crates 2023 KTM 390s.
The smaller bikes have made their way to the market and are here to stay.

I would be a great example. Sold my 1190r because it was burning my balls into oblivion.
Got an 890r cause I wanted something I could get in the woods and ride on the back country roads.
I miss the big bike, and I can’t really have 2 up on the 890r.
But a week ago I bought a ‘23 390 Adventure. The reasoning was to not only up my skills with a lighter bike, but to offer those an option to get a feel for an adventure bike. It’s very manageable.

I will be looking to upgrade to the R model in the smaller displacement when it arrives.

You most certainly can stop faster without ABS.
The benefit of ABS is so that you can still steer. Ask me how I know :)

The biggest wreck I have avoided being killed was completely related to me having ABS. Now the bike was still hit, and smashed to bits. How we I was able to avoid T-boning the Tahoe at 65mph.
After that experience and what I learned and how it saved me.
I won’t get another street bike without it. Hell it even helps me from washing out the front on downhills off-road on the big bike.

Big time! I think people are realizing the benefits of a smaller displacement (400 n smaller cc) bike for around town and light highway duties.

First experience with ABS has been on my super tenere, at first i thought meh... but after riding it, like you I probably wouldnt get a bike without it that sees mostly road duties.

(Also the super tenere's unified braking - via the ABS module - is nice, I thought I wouldnt like it but only having to grab front brake lever and have the rear also applied is quite nice for lazy riding.... I still use the front and rear independently and the unified braking will only do its thing if you start with the front brake first)

    These showed up yesterday.

So I could replace these and put the stock pivot hardware back on the levers. The aftermarket stuff was a bit loose.

Went with the T-rex stuff as it retains the inner bar weight and is made for the bike.
That weight removal was 2/3 of the time of the total install. Was a bitch to get out but went right back in easy enough.

    Bar weight reinstalled.

    Everything lined up really nice.

    Looks good without the plastics.

    Looks better with them.

Clearance at full lock. I also have 30mm risers installed so that helped a bit.

I've always been a Honda guy, I had cr500's and currently own a Honda atv & SxS. Honda always treated me great. But Ive been researching KTM Enduro 690r & the 500EXC to use for exploring here in the WV mountains. I was decided on the 690r, that is until I learned that CF Moto merged with KTM. Chinese made motors are concerning to me.

Went with a set of cheap Chinese bolt on pegs, for the price I had to try them.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QHWQJ3D?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

All the reviews mentioned adding a couple washers and buying longer bolts.
All that was needed was a tiny bit of clearance filing and the stock bolts fit just fine, no washers needed. It's the end of the stock peg that tilts up a bit and causes the peg to sit at an angle.

I should be ready for spring now.

What’s even more concerning to me is that our entire nation has become Chinese. I think china owns as much land here as we do.

How a person / entity without being a citizen and primary resident of this country can own land is beyond me.... Shits not looking good on multiple fronts tbh for the average law abiding working tax paying citizen of the USA.

    That stated,

I did manage to get on a ride today! Beautiful somewhat cool (67 burrrr) fall feeling day along the PCH.

Just tell them you have a therapy appointment that you forgot to mention. They don't have to know it's throttle therapy. :bikewheelie2:

Fair enough. I might have to take some time off soon. Needing a vacation. Not sure what I want to do or where I want to go, though. Too many things rolling around in my head that I like to do. I could head for lower elevation for better temps and then I have to figure out this stuff.
    • Love camping and basically doing nothing but enjoying doing nothing.
    • Love not worrying about camping and staying in a hotel so I can spend the day seeing sites or doing activities with friend.
    • Love stay-cations without leaving the house.
    • Love kayaking. Almost have to camp to do this one.
    • Love riding the bike. Could do this by loading it on the trailer and hauling to a nicer climate. Getting pretty nasty for weather here.
    • May just hold off and take time around thanksgiving and go see friends a few hours away.
