4 Leaf tsb thinner than 3 leaf

Hello,

A Toyota dealer master tech told me that the tsb 4 leaf metal is actually a little thinner metal than the original 3 leaf. Anyone notice this?

 

I have seen several comments saying the same thing.

 

Hmmm, Maybe to make it less of a lift. So people don't bitch about the back end being too high after its done.

 

I never really checked, other than counting the number of leafs.

All I can say is that your service tech is way smarter than the one I deal with. Mine didn't even know what the rear TSB was.

 

(with 4 leaf tsb) He also said it handles better, will still bottom out just as much as the 3 leaf under load conditions, only will help with tounge weight of a improperly loaded trailor.

Your service tech is a trained TROUBLE SHOOTING and REPAIR/INSTALLATION guy...not a metalurgist or mechanical engineer.

The thickness of a piece of metal means little to nothing if you don't understand how it's made.

 

I've carried the same weight before and after the TSB, (about 1000LBS). It did not bottom out at all after the TSB but did bottom out a lot before the TSB. In my case, what he said was not correct.

 

He's full of shit about it bottoming out. I had mine done last summer and I can haul a hell of a lot more without bottoming out now with the new leaf pack. The ride is firmer than before.
