Last time I went to the dealer to get some gaskets in my 13, some sales guy hassled me..
I just kept saying, where is the parts department, parts department please..

The place I bought my truck from [used lot] finally stopped sending me letters offering to buy the truck back - after 3yr of no response from me..

Just a few accessories, mud flaps, bed cover , racks, seat covers, ….
Well, this is normal, advertising is free and legal in U.S. I get calls ,flyers , letters, all kind of media communications for my house and truck, but what bothered me and was weird to me is this: when I was around 35 years old , got mails almost every couple of month to buy my funeral expenses ahead, pay instalments to avoid leaving high cost for my family, and blah, blah, blah. one day I got very tired of this shit, wrote them a letter and told them , that I am a perfectly fine and healthy and plan to live years to come, and this is a scam business . They stopped after that letter.

it's only a scam until you suddenly die.

i used to know a 34 year old guy that went on one last emergency roadside truck repair. he didn't come home that night after a truck driver unintentionally moved over into the breakdown lane and crushed him between his repair truck and the broken truck.

but advertising is not at all free. someone needs to pay postage, and a design team to make those flyers...

Not your actual score if you were to have a dealer or a lender pull your score. Actual will come in a bit less.

Toyota has called me or my wife about once every 2 months since we bought our ‘17 4runner new, and for the last 3 years we get called and emailed almost every month on my ‘21 Tacoma. They’re constantly trying to buy our trucks back. Somehow no matter what the price, and no matter what my current interest rate is, they can always get me into a more expensive new vehicle for “about the same payment”. Then I can just constantly be starting over and making payments for eternity! I asked the salesman before, “What does the ‘23 have that my ‘21 doesn’t?” (knowing the answer is nothing). He listed out everything they have in common because vitually no changes have been made, and I told him he doesn’t know enough about the product he’s selling.

There’s no shortage of “deep thinkers”, who’ll willingly spend another $10-15K after tax, fees, and interest on a newer truck, same as their old truck. It’s the same people who upgrade their phones every 6 months.

Interesting, I've never received one of these calls.
I've always paid for my vehicles in full up front.
I wonder if it's a coincidence, or if they've simply found that folks that are used to making payments are more likely to just keep on signing up for more.

Interesting I have never received a call asking to buy my truck back from the dealership I bought mine fro but they are out of state. the Local dealer Hanover Toyota I went to for Toyota care never hassled me. I owe around 6,000 too and have a 1.99% loan so they can never beat that now.

My house on the over hand I get calls, texts, letters and post cards about selling it several times a week. they always say its a full cash offer but when you ask what the offer is they cant tell you. I know its chumps trying to sucker people with low ball offer so they can flip a house. I just say if you aren't ready with the price now ur wasting our time and hang up.

We get those calls about the house often. For those I tell them I'll take 1.5 million in cash, small bills. When they hang up on me I call
them back and repeat it over and over again, and I call them back like 10 to 15 times until they tell me I am annoying them. Then I
say well now you know how I feel.

same here. only loan i ever took was to buy first house and got out from under that asap. financing will keep you poor. math not everyone's strong suit. i got a couple calls/emails/texts from dealer and i told them to go away or they would be blocked and dealer would not be able to reach me for something important, like a critical recall (if such exists) and they could be liable (poetic license). stopped it cold. its been a couple years since they bugged me. they do have a legal right to bug you though. ex. no call list does not work for years if you have previous dealings with them.

edit: a little more complicated with mortgage loans (i referred to house loan). have to take into account tax deductibility. still money flowing out but not as fast. ...and then locked in rate in rising rate climate - you can actually actually reverse that. platitudes are tough.

I love it!!! I try to be a wise ass when they call at the right time and I'm in that mood. I have to try calling them back time that. the other sales call that annoyed me is the solar panel people. they call almost every day or try to. I need to come up with something to call them back to sell. the only issue I can for see with calling back is they probably call me with spoofed caller ID.

Fckn credit scores are a scam to some extent. I paid off the only credit card I had a balance on an my score went down, nothing else changed. So I put a small balance on all three of my cards (just as an experiment) and three months later it was back to 835. Nothing else changed.
They WANT you to be in debt. They WANT you to fail so they can make more money off you….. AND you pay more for car insurance if your credit is lower.
    Wait until ESG kicks in.

part of what goes into a credit score is continued payments on debt. if you have no debt, your credit score takes a hit, but still in top tier if long history of no exceptions.
every now and then i get a pitch that i can improve my score (already over 800) by taking on some debt. lol. it must work on some people though.

Back when I did test drives before I bought mine, one salesman was calling and emailing for several months afterwards. I went to the dealership manager and stated this is no longer following up but harassment. If it didn't stop I'd file a complaint with the BBB and, if necessary, the local police. Magically, the salesman never bugged me again.
