No, muds dig sand too much and do not float as good as an AT.

I would suggest the Nitto Ridge Grappler I’ve been running them on my taco and t4r and they work great and are actually the quietest off road tire i have ever owned on road / hwy

Anyone build extra taillight supports for their fiberglass? I sent my truck a little too hard last night and lost a taillight... bolts are still there but it snapped the housing right off

The problem is the design of the oe taillights themselves the plastic tabs will always break. A few guys have built different taillights ie: a metal frame with individual leds i am filling in the taillights on my glass and molding in locations for leds

That's exactly what broke on mine. Maybe someone sells those type of taillights?

Something else I’ve seen is some taking that steel band strips they use to secure loads to a pallet and strapping it around the plastic light and securing it with nutzerts on the backside

@Caboose117 I was asking if there are like non DOT sand tires for 4runners. I was suggesting that I could park off pavement and unload and bolt up two oversized rear wheels. And then put back on the matching set for the trip home.
    Thanks, I will watch closely

Don’t have pictures, but before I built custom lights I made a little bracket off the bed and bolted the back of the tail light to it. Basically shaved the “nipple” supports off the bedside and unscrewed the nipples from the tail light. Then screwed the tail lights to the bracket off where the nipple was. Lasted for years like this without issues.

I mean you can search for paddle tires in a size that would fit. But you’ll likely have clearance issues.

    That makes way more sense

Actual paddles though will give you clearance issues
    And
I’ve def seen dudes destroy their body panels because of the paddles
    Tho more so with fiberglass

Edit: I totally wanna say it’s more stress on your axel too
I swear someone in here snapped some axels with paddles
I’d assume it’s the same reason mud truck dudes snap them on their paddles

You don’t run paddles with glass for the most part - for that reason

Yeah right? It’s not just like the paddle tire but the sheer volume and force of the sand being thrown too right?

    Big yikes
    Driveshaft failures are terrifying IMO
And those safety loops to catch them are a must

Silver lake dudes use these instead of paddles - even these put a lot more load on the drivetrain as well

A/T tires are going to do better than mud tires. But you will also need to consider what wheels you will be using. Airing down (lowering the tire pressure) is what you will have to do. You may find yourself (depending on the tire) needing to go down to 10psi and maybe even a little lower. Therefore using a beadlock type wheel or Method Bead Grip wheels would be highly recommended in order to keep the tire from de beading.

Two totally asinine questions that I couldn't find a clear answer to from searching:
    • I can get away without running glass with 35s on the JD 2.25 kit, could I on the 4 or is the geometry bad enough that you'll be slamming into the fenders?
    • Does anyone run the JD inner fenders? It seems overkill but if I'm going to have them do work I'd rather one and done.
Side note: LT club coolest club. Can you imagine if someone posted a random tire question in an unrelated 3rd gen thread? Dude would regret his existence but look at yall.

You’ll have to cut the stock metal. Quite a number of guys run the inner fenders.

@Sixthelement truck is running the jd 2.25 kit and inner fenders and we had to cut the front fenders quite a bit. You could probably do a 4” kit but gonna be cutting more
