I looked at the 2.25” kit and said, but why not 4”? And that’s how that went.

Some sick trucks made it out to Cinders the beginning of this month, I made a little montage of the video I have from the event. It was rad.

Not sure how I missed this. It was an epic trip. Send me that video of me jumping that’s in that montage. Looks like you got a good angle

Edit: “missed” it because you just posted it lol

If I run beadlocks and air down low, should I get E load tires or should I look for something with a softer sidewall that will deform more(?!) Looks like E load is uniformly available in the bigger sizes

any downsides to running beadlocks besides needing to attend to the uh beadlock?

Thx guys. I'll post a thread in tires n wheels and I bet it will be a whole show

Attending to the beadlock and most tire shops won’t mount them is the only downside

Got to agree with you if staying with og bedsides. Much prefer stock body panels if a vehicle is only going to have one set of fiberglass front or rear.

these are run because we drive the trucks down the road. To get in when the park is full you have to be able to come off the road and drive right into soft sand. The down fall is weight, paddles are generally really light and I break alot of parts on aired down mud tires, but we generally run 6 to 8 psi

MarTec is localish to me... I'm considering combining their trailing 3 arm rear SAS with a JD LT front-end. Am I insane? I might be insane. ;)

you could probably DIY a 3 link together cheaper [no offense intended to martec], and are still likely not going to get a ton more travel than a good SUA kit would.

Yeah, cost is what made me think of 3 linking the rear instead of the SUA. The SUA kits are all pretty pricey with a decent amount of labor and it feels like for not a heap more I could get a solid axle back there.

Yeah, reading through their kit it says, "The shocks mount on the trailing arm lower links providing just under 15 inches of wheel travel."

which you could certainly cheat higher with the same size shock if you change lower links that have the lower shock mount further. You'll have a higher motion ratio on the shock, but you'd get more travel....but that's still about the same as a SUA.

I think it depends on what you want to do with the truck though. At some point, linking the rear and NOT doing a 4 link seems not worth it considering the amount of fabrication a link setup entrails.

Yeah, the big difference between a 3 link and a 4 link is the 4 requires relocating the gas tank and getting a custom fab fuel cell. The 3 link is much closer to a SUA in cost than a 4 link is which is the only reason it's tempting. I definitely don't crawl hard enough to justify the cost of a 4 link. ;)

3 link is fine, but what size shocks are they running to only be getting just under 15” of travel? Should be in the 19-22” range with a link setup if not more.
