My intercooler seal has come unglued. Should I just clean and reglue or is there something I can buy?

URD has some replacements for sale with tape pre-applied.
I tried to get the one I bought to stick, really cleaning and de-greasing the cooler, but no luck.
I ended up just taking it off and running without. Didn't want it to get sucked down the intake and into the engine. No problems running without it.
I've also thought about trying to use some garage door seal or something.

Yeah running without it would definitely be my ideal option. I understand they want all the air that comes through there to get cooled off. Mine was already peeling and got soaked with coolant when I took it apart I'm sure no amount of cleaning will ever make it stick now

For sure. Ideally all the air would pass through the cooler. Mine was super oily from the PCV blowby and some coolant when I bought my used TRD SC.

Oh yeah that makes sense then. It just has a ton of miles on it.

I cleaned mine and then RTV'ed it in place. Still hasn't been a problem to this day.

If the first gen is getting a TVS version it gives me hope that a 2nd gen version may be in the pipeline at some point.

This goes back to what we've been talking about in this thread for a long time now. The switchover to TVS tech compared to the previous roots tech that we have had on ours for some time wouldn't and shouldn't be too difficult to do. It would be nice if we had a competent machine shop be willing to take on the task and machine us out a new rotor pack but up to this point that has been a difficult task. Plus Magnuson, if they decide to make Gen 2 TVS revisions would see BIG money if they gave us the option to sell the supercharger by itself given that so many of us already have the full kit as it is as well as so many supporting mods that are better than what is being offered in "stock" form.

I’m not super well versed on the differences, but do you mean this is something that could theoretically be a simple rotor pack that would drop into our existing housings ? Basically reshape the roots rotors to be a 4 lobe TVS style ?

I believe the TVS rotors are tighter than the 3 lobe Roots are tighter so in reality with what is currently there all it would really take is a competent machinist/ shop, some CAD designs, 2 small hunks of aluminum, and their machine (obviously) to make some drop in rotor packs for our current housing.

I love that the new tvs has a bolt on pulley instead of a press on!

And a lot of money... The cost for a small batch run of a part/assembly like that, not to mention the R&D time/cost that goes with it.. would turn everyone away. It happens all the time. People don't understand what it takes and the cost for things like this.. especially when you do have a "competent" shop do it. Sure some garage shop owner could hack together something for a fraction of the cost (and we're still talking probably more than what most would want to spend).. but quality and precision is expensive.. that's what you're paying for. You wouldn't believe the PO's I've seen come through the shop.. and that's not even getting into the Aerospace stuff we do.

Lol. Even farther from it now than back then. We're balls deep in a remodel/expansion of the shop. 3 new bigger, badder machines coming within the month. One old one sold already. New area's are built, painted and they are running airlines as we speak. Just bigger, more complex shit. Missile/rocket testing parts, In-Flight parts, etc. We were featured in a Titans of CNC video not too long ago in one of his video series showcasing big-time shops. Just growing at an alarming rate.. lol

You're not wrong, but if someone did do this, they would make killer money on retrofits because this would not only fit ours, it would fit other M/MP 90 models.

The pricing on the units would be more than I think people would be willing to spend.. unless we made thousands, true production. We did just some basic finishing work on aluminum castings for a company making superchargers for the NSX. Just that job was not only a big undertaking engineering wise (how to hold these casted parts, how to pick them up and establish Datums, making the fixturing to hold them, how to check them afterwards) but it was also a low quantity job (like 120 units I think) so we spent more time and money on the R&D and engineering work than it was to machine them.. thus.. making for a costly job.
