looking for a solution to the manual seat that comes with the base model Tacoma and found a 2000 4Runner power seat for $100 not far from here. I’m wondering if anyone tried fitting this into their 2’nd gen Tacoma? I’m thinking of stripping the new seat down to the frame and swapping the foam and covers over to the new power seat along with the air bag & wiring for it. Any ideas? Suggestions?
    Thanks guys

Airbags are a very highly engineered thing and not something I think anyone would recommend you alter in that fashion.

It's your truck and you're (presumably) an adult human, so of course do as you please, but there is a ton of math and testing that goes into every single aspect of the airbags - the frame of the seat they are installed in, exact positioning and angles, and the speed, size, and shape of the airbag itself.

    4 run, 2 don't
2nd Gen Tacoma is completely different from a 1st Gen Tacoma and the 1st Gen shares a ton with a 3rd Gen 4Runner.

With that said, even the 4R seat needs one of the feet worked on (or an adapter purchased) to mount it up to a 1st Gen.

However, if you have an angle grinder and a welder you can quickly and easily make your own base for your truck and adapt any seat you'd like.

Thanks for the info, I have worked with several different Toyota and Lexus seats and found the basic frames are all similar so I know I can make it fit just fine with some fabrication but I think the best thing would be to keep looking around for something newer to work with.
    Thanks again
