    Hey everyone,

I just replaced my spark plugs on my 2018 TRD Offroad 65K miles. After I was done I got a solid check engine light. After running codes I got P0353 (Ignition Coil C). I believe this is the middle coil on the passenger side.

I swapped the coil and spark plug with another one on the passenger side and am still receiving the same code. I also triple checked all of the connections and don't see any issues. Any suggestions?

Pull the plug back out and check the gap.

I don’t think it’s the gap we swapped the plug

That code is for an ignition confirmation code for coil #3.
    Not necessarily a misfire.

Unplug the the connector on coil #3
You will see a white wire.
Turn the key on but do NOT start the truck.
See if you have 5v on the white wire.

I should also add, see if the terminal where the white wire goes into the connector is good.
See if your are having poor pin fitment on the white wire where it clips on to the coil.

Finally got to test this. Clip looks ok. I started up the truck and unplugged the coil on cylinder C. Engine sound changed immediately and got a bunch of other codes. Then I reconnected and cleared the codes. Was still left with the original P0353 code. For the hell of it I unplugged the coil on cylinder E got a bunch of other codes, plugged the coil back in and was left with one cylinder C code and one on cylinder E. These both wont go away. Is it possible I just need to drive it? Im thinking that maybe coil c wasn’t originally connected when i first turned on the car after replacing the plugs and the code wont clear without driving.

No. You didn’t test it correctly.
    Key ON, Engine OFF.
Unplug the connector on coil #3.
Take a voltage meter and see if you have 5v on the white wire.
    Again, Truck Off, Key On

That code is for then Ignition Conformation Signal.
The truck monitors the coil for ignition.
If the signal isn’t output, the truck throws that code.

You can still have ignition and throw that code.
It has nothing to do with the actual ignition inside the cylinder.
That code is only for the coil.

Will your scanner not clear codes?
