I'd hate to have to use the window cranks. Someone is gouging the market on this little thing.

I don't get the fascination with the Helix. They are ugly trucks.

Am I missing something? I didn't see anything stating this?

I do like the looks of my 2nd gen better but pull off the bolt on crap and graphics and add some TRUCK tires and I'd choose the Hilux for the diesel and the economy!

I'd get rid of the graphics, chrome and bullbar and it would be nice little truck.

I secretly wanted a HILUX until seeing that thing. It reminds me of a RAV4 with a truck bed. So much for wanting one of those...

Props to Arctic Trucks for making them sweet. Must be WAY more work than I thought.

At least now I know where the rear bumper off my '87 ended up.

Why wouldn't it be street legal? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't pass an inspection.

You can't register a vehicle in the US unless it has air bags? What if you drive a older vehicle or a home built (custom or hot rod)? As far as I know here in Canada the vehicle must be equipped with all the safety features that it originally came with from the factory the year of its manufacture.

Up here I have been noticing alot of RHD vehicles (Misubishi Delicas, Toyota Landcruisers). I always wonder why they let them on the roads in north america. It can't be safe as far as visibility.

I always said if Toyota would build a small economy 4x4 pickup with a diesel and a manual transmission, I would buy a few of them today for my company and one of them for myself. After seeing this ugly thing, I am reconsidering.

    Response from eBay seller:

If it had a US title it would of been sold by now for 37-38k. The truck has a Guatemala title and you may or may not be able to get a US title, depending on your states laws and situation.

If I remember correctly, you said that you were going to buy this truck and then promptly remove the engine and transmission. Then ship the engine and transmission to me for $200.00 delivered!

That truck won't get a title in the US and it is not legal for it to be here. If I am wrong, somebody please let me know, because I would start importing cars ASAP.

Basically, it has to be older than 25 years or on the "good list," and this truck is not.

    Here is the good list:
    http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/elig092210.pdf

Here are the basics of importing:
    http://www.eastcoastrover.com/imports.html

I know that illegal vehicles do get confiscated:
    http://wot.motortrend.com/feds-begin-to-seize-illegal-nissan-skyline-gtrs-in-california-6257.html

Maybe if you bought it for parts or to drive striclty on private property, you could make it work?

if you google for some info on importing foreign vehicles you'll quickly find out...something like .. http://www.ehow.com/how_7354030_import-toyota-hilux-usa.html
    I really wanted a 70 series & checked into importation info a while back..good f'n luck
likely can be used off-road only.
if you manage to put a tag on it & get caught by the feds, they take the vehicle & fine you
I spoke w/ the dealer selling in the ebay ad. He told me it did not have a USA title & he's able to drive around on temporary dealer tags only

basicly the truck doesnt pass the required crash & smog tests to be run on the roads in north america; & until it does (unless it's 25+ years old or your a diplomat) it wont be in your driveway

^very true. I got a Audi a4 TDI V6 from a diplomat once and everything stated above applies. Too bad I didn't have dealer tags....
