long only. The reason for the existance of a short bed is the double cab and tight parking areas. The long bed 6' is considered a short bed to the rest of the trucking world.

You know that your own DoubleCab Tacoma has the long bed? Shortbeds are for those people who have a big purse. Lol

I think I phrased that wrong, but I love the long bed. I had to special order the long bed when I got mine. The dealer couldnt find one, then had to order it from the factory (Texas). Took them almost 3 months. I wanted a speedway blue sport double cab with a tow pkg.

I like the look of the long box better on the double cab, plus you can haul more with it.

You mean they couldn't find one with the 3 leaf pack , those are a dime a dozen up here , in fact the DCLB is the majority .

my two cents I love the shorter bed, I had 2 Tundras 00ac cab & 07 ac cab, the 00 was cool but no room in the back seat, the 07 was powerful great room in the rear seats but hard to park and the bed was almost too long. Just bought a DC SB Prerunner and it is perfect for me. Enough room in the rear seats for passengers and enough room in the bed to carry what I need. fishing poles etc.
Late! Love the forum by the way, I find it really hard to stay away.

Its the same on this side of the country too, my theory on this is that *most* people want an automatic and unless its a U.S. vehicle, you can only get a double cab auto with a long bed.

Well , it just all comes down to what Toyota feels the market desires , for example we can't get the Offroad edition in a DC .

That's fair, I do find it strange that, while they're producing the vehicles they limit the availability to certain regions. If someone up here wants certain options that are produced, I cant see why, as a company, they wouldn't allow someone to at the very least order one. Just thinking out loud though don't mind me! :)

No worries , I agree , it seems strange to me that all of the Tacomas are made in the same plants and they put in different springs for Canada , we can get factory leather and heated seats , in the same plants as the US trucks , but can't order a DCLB manual or a DCSB auto .

Tires only, not planning any major changes yet.
In my case, i had to get the long bed because i was going to use the truck for work, and it makes my job easier since one of the main things that i use is a six foot leader. Some of my coworkers own tacomas too. two of them own short beds and they have to carry their ledder with the tail gate open or with the rear end of the ledder on tof of the tail gate. I guess it all depends on what are you gonna be using the truck. But to me, if it's a tacoma it looks GOOD. The short or long bed it's just a preference.

I'm about to pick up a SB, but I'm getting a bed extender in case I need more room. I like the looks of the SB better.
