Drove out a couple Thursdays ago to spend a week camping and hiking out in The Maze with @Littles and @bot102. Got some wheeling and hiking in western Colorado, the Rockies, Capitol Reef, and Red Rock Canyon, too. 2,800 miles later, I'm back with a big old bandwidth killing photodump.

    Ain't that some shit?

Sorry... But I could absolutely NEVER understand shelling out that kind of money on an item that you have no estimated lead time what-so-ever (because all the lead times they gave were always bullshit).

There was more of a chance that Elvis would return from the dead and save humanity than there was that Vagabond wouldn't go out of business... it was only a matter of time. I distinctly remember telling quite a few people I know, that have a drifter, how lucky they were to get it and not get fucked.

I predict the next one will be Marlin. But I doubt Jerry gets ahold of that one before Trail Gear does.

Again... that's just my gut feeling, prediction.

I had skin in the game for this, luckily made it out with a drifter. Took a lot of pushing. But with that being said I just order some shirts, to help the group of people that got screwed.

We ended up buying one second hand. It took months and many face to face request/sue threats before we got our deposit back. Was so relieved once I was done with that.

    Jesus... what a mess.

I'm sorry, I just can't not put myself in the head space of handing someone over 10K of my money and then 2 and a half, three years, down the road... I don't have my shit.

I just can't see how that plays out in my world without involving threats acts of violence.

Years ago, I sold a car thru a consignment place. It took a month to get paid. Turns out the guy was serious debt. I called him from the car and told him I was on my way to meet the SO at his house. I eventually got paid but such a pita. I learned way more than I cared about what gov will and won’t do for you. The bottom line, they will use your complaint to develop their case but you will receive zero help.

I am reluctant to place a deposit on anything anymore.

I'll place a deposit... but some of the amounts of money people are willing to give shady Companies... mind boggling.

The way I saw it... and it could be said about Pelfry, and Vagabond, and even Marlin with their RCLT and all their shenanigans over the years.

If there are that many people putting fat assed deposits on things, and your lead times are that long... hire more fucking people. It IS that simple... unless you are squandering that money (from the deposits) on bullshit... trips, sponsoring race teams, giving shit away to your Instagram pals, building out show rigs... and all the other bullshit these idiots do to keep up with the Jones' and put themselves out there... convincing themselves it's "marketing."

To be fair, and this will be my last comment on this, because it don’t want a time out from mods. Phil and the people that created vagabond were held in high regards in the Tacomaworld community. There was lots of faith that they would pull through. That fact alone I think blinded a lot of people to what was actually happening behind closed doors. (Which was nothing at all)

but let’s not get this thread closed. If you want to help out those that got fucked… go buy a shirt, and know that it’s going out a fellow member.

Bummer. I was rooting for them to be successful but after they were dropped as vendors here it seemed like the writing was on the wall. Great concept poor implementation and now it looks like once great guys are going to pay for it. Hopefully just bad business skills and not willful deceit. I hope for everyone involved it’s all sorted to everyone’s satisfaction.

    BAMF is just fine
@JLee is trying to help fix someone else’s fuck up yet again to better this off-road community.

Orders for custom high end built to order parts take time.
