I'm curious when someone will get to drive one. That day must be approaching quickly, one would think.

What’s interesting about Gen4 is that while efforts were made to incorporate Gen3 styling elements, out of necessity the proportions have seen quiet changes. You see hints of that on the side windows, wheelbase, the bed, all over.

In 1996, the 4Runner was separated from Tacoma, as it shifted to being its own SUV, instead of a pickup w a cap. In 2024, the Tacoma has been reformulated onto an SUV platform. Congrats, as we have now come full circle.

Regardless of the DNA, the Gen4 should be pretty good, but it is now more akin to being a modern day Explorer Sport Trac, just made by Toyota.

I'm waiting to see the 3 row Tacoma. :fingerscrossed: Double cab with elongated rear doors and jump seats behind the 2nd row on the DCLB wheelbase with a short bed.

We are less than a week from October, you would assume they are not too far off from pricing and media test drives.

    Why not?

The fact the seat backs seem thicker on even the non iso seat is likely to incorporate the engineering for the ventilation.

The more I see this thing, the less I like it. the SR5 that was shown a while back looks so much better than the Creatine obsessed, Tap out shirt wearing monsters of late.

That C pillar really is huuuge.

3rd pic… The front skid plate looks to hang down quite far. Reversing over an obstacle it looks like it would get hung up quite easily…

The more of these viper cut looking front bumpers I see, the more I think these trucks would look better with a real front bumper. Having a defined line where the front fascia ends and the front bumper starts just looks more uniform. Bring the grill down lower get rid of that silver plastic above the skid plate, and add a conventional steel front bumper. That would look much better.

Something like pictured below. Toyota could still offere an add on off road front bumper.

The more we see of these trucks the worse they become. After all these years it seems like the truck was just thrown and designed by non truck people.

I think this hits the nail on the head and articulates what is bugging me about the 2024.

For years the complaints were that the Tacoma is too small. Is it now too big?

It's on the back and I'm not really digging that one. The bumper caps are kind of weird, I like the auxiliary lights, the two hooks on the rear are a little busy. The front could get a stealth bumper but I'm not sure if Toyota is going to add it as an accessory.

Toyota use to know how to design a truck with a front bumper, don't know what happened.
